I just got a new Blaze to replace my stolen Charge HR. I haven't changed the amount of activity I'm doing. (I know because I keep a spreadsheet of activities duration, average HR, and max HR, and everything is the same.) The Fitbit Blaze, however, says that I'm burning ~500 more calories per day, or 20% more than before.
Did something change with the algorithm? Or is the Blaze not as accurate as the Charge HR? (I maintained my weight eating what the Charge HR said I burned.)

I have the same question. I previously used a Fitbit One with a separate heart rate monitor for activity. Blaze is about 500 more per day. I just walked about 2.5 miles, at a 15 min pace. Normally that would be about 325 calories for me. Blaze says 466. I have only had mine for one day, so I am going to turn the heart rate monitor off except for exercise and see if that makes a difference.

I just got a Blaze. Love it so far because the Charge HR kept breaking at the charging point.
Anyway, my Blaze is adding extra calories burned to with no changes in my activities or patterns in comparison to when I was using the Charge HR.
This is puzzling and important. I use this as a way to monitor intake and output for running training for hal-marathons.

During CES 2016, Fitbit told reporters that the Blaze's PurePulse HR Monitor was upgraded and should have better accuracy than it's predecessors (Charge HR and Surge). The Blaze is possibly tracking your HR more consistantly and accurately leading to a better indication to your overall calories burned?
