Blaze charging adapter can't be used while in wristband frame

The Blaze charging adapter is an extremely poor design that requires you to remove the Blaze from the wristband frame each time you charge it. Incredibly poor and clumsy design that will cause unnecessary wear on the Blaze. Please fix this ASAP.

Hi,

I dont work for fitbit, but you gotta look at why they went with that design.

They put value on the ability to swap out bands, and swap them quickly.  So they had to come up with a watch that wasnt too big and can do that-  all while keeping it thin so the ladies wouldnt complain too much 😉

So thats why they had to go with a zero depth charging method, meaning that a charging cable couldnt have a port on the back that would have insertion depth.   Bring on the idea of the clamshell design.

Its not my favorite, but its growing on me.  Its on my bathroom vanity so I charge it when I go into the shower and get cleaned up.

I find it pretty quick to disconnect now.  It seems to come out if you press on the two button side easier, at least for me.  Reinsertion on the one-button side first- then the two button.   Piece of cake.

Hopefully you get used to it-  blaze is a pretty cool device.

There is nothing to fix because nothing is broken.  It was designed that way, and like the previous comment said, the emphasis was placed on interchangable bands.  I actually much prefer the blaze charging method compared to the ChargeHR.  The Charge connection easily popped out and stopped charging without you knowing.

Also, it you look at the back of the Blaze unit there is nothing to "plug into" as it is jsut the copper connectons, so they could not change it to a plug in charger anyway.

Yep- I remember my charge not actually charging when I thought it was. I would accidentally bump it while charging and come back to find it still needing charged.

I do not object to the clamshell design. I just believe a little more thought and design effort could have placed the hinge on a side away from the wrist band so that the clamshell design could be used without removing the Blaze from the frame.

Since this forum is for Fitbit users to discuss Fitbit related stuff. I'm not sure which Fitbit user is being asked to Fix it.

Good point.
I like the FitBit Blaze. Just made a comment about the charging adapter hoping someone from FitBit might notice.

Fitbit could have design a charger that could clamp on the blaze while it is still in the wrist band. I wear it all the time, over time it will be loose. My surge with the flimsy plug in still work well after 2 years of using and I charge it daily. Strap develop a small crack and glass crack, but i still use the gps when cycling as blaze does not have one.

If you search amazon, there is a vendor that offers a blaze charger that works while it is in the band.  it does not work with all of the aftermarket bands.  Some are too large.  also, I don't know about the quality of the charger or if it will damage battery.
