Blaze charging and initial firmware update taking forever

Just got my Blaze.  Couldn't figure out how to get it connected to the charger because of the lack of documentation.  I'm not sure I'm digging the requirement to remove the face from the band every time I need to charge it.

I did manage to add it to the fitbit app on my phone and immediately I'm waiting over 30 minutes for a "10 minute" firmware update.  It's 25% done now, so I have that going for me.

Anyone else verify that their update took so long?  Just wanting to ensure whether or not the problem might be with my phone.

Thanks!

Mine took about 7 minutes.

25% after 30 minutes . . . something is wrong

So, it finally gave up and went back to the "fitbit.com/setup" screen.  Okay, so bluetooth let me down.  Well, let's plug the USB cord into my PC and install fitbit Connect.  Nope.  It says to plug in a dongle.

Really?  You don't ship it with a dongle and I can't even use the thing without having a dongle?  What accountant came up with that crappy idea?

Starting to get a little frustrated.

...a lot of us must have gotten them this AM. My update was about 7 minutes too.

Are you using your mobile?

Tried it once again on the phone.  Worked this time.  Maybe it just needed a 100% charge first.

Oh well.  I'm back to happy.  Thanks for the responses!

Sounds like your update kinda frooze, could have been the FitBit server.  Glad to hear you are up and running

I am having a problem setting up my Blaze. I was able to get the four digit code and it shows on my dashboard, but it stills shows fitbit.com/setup on the screen and the update that shows keeps failing. I am on a laptop using windows 10 app. Any suggestions

I started my Blaze update and nothing seemed to happen. After 60 min the bar was completed on my LG G4 but the Blaze seemed to have disapeared from any device. The Blaze itself only displays the start screen.

No manual or troubleshooting info -  what a shame FitBit.

When I updated mine yesterday (about 2pm Eastern) it did take what felt like 30 minutes but more likely was roughly the estimated 10 minutes. Hoping all future updates don't take that long and that it was just a slow server that day.

I set mine up yesterday at about 3:30pm central time.  Total set up time was approximately 10-12 minutes.  In actuality that is not very long, but it felt like an eternity as I wanted to use it.

Count yourselves lucky. It took me 4.5 hrs before the update would even start, followed by a further 20 mins to apply. Major frustration (but happy bunny now).

How do you fit the Blaze into the charger. Do you have to take it apart?

@hbrichta - Yes- you have to pop the screen part out of the bezel.

Refer to Blaze User Guide - page 14 shows how to do this.

Hope that helps!

Just got my blaze also and am currently updating.  So far 15 minutes with no indication as to what percentage is complete.  Let us know how long yours took once complete.

@Visualtps - my update only took 10-12 minutes to update, and while it was updating, it had a progress bar showing both on my phone and the Blaze.

Not sure why it takes so long for some - perhaps server(s) are busy?

Thanks.  I restarted by Galaxy S3 and tried again and it took about 10 minutes including syncing.  Now I'm giving it a full charge before I go for a walk.

My update aborted saying connection was lost after 30 minutes. I have 24 gig private connection.
