Blaze charging and initial firmware update taking forever

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just got my Blaze.  Couldn't figure out how to get it connected to the charger because of the lack of documentation.  I'm not sure I'm digging the requirement to remove the face from the band every time I need to charge it.

I did manage to add it to the fitbit app on my phone and immediately I'm waiting over 30 minutes for a "10 minute" firmware update.  It's 25% done now, so I have that going for me.

Anyone else verify that their update took so long?  Just wanting to ensure whether or not the problem might be with my phone.

Thanks!

I had some heartburn with mine the first day too

restating the phone helped a ton and took care of all of the issues.

Mine got stuck for about 45 mins.  I rebooted my phone because someone said it worked for them, not it is telling me that blaze needs charging to continue.  Maybe that's the problem.  Fingers cross a charge will work.  Now I need to work out how to get it out of the frame!

Just got my fit bit blaze today and it's giving me the same problem, tired reseting my phone, doing it on my computer, and eveyrthing. It loads...but it after two hours.....there is barely a line. It reset twice on me. Its going extreamly slow and not sure what else to do. I'm not sure if it is defective, or just taking too long again....

What type of computer? Are you using Fitbit Connect or the win10 app?

My thought would be to cancel then restart.

I"ve used the app, and then I have a windows 10 ....it finally went though after 5 hours....but now it's giving me problems syncing to my phone...and then it doesnt show the clock face or workouts that i've changed....

I really loved the blaze when I saw it...but it just keeps giving me so much hassel....the battery is already almost dead after a few hours..i'm hoping it starts to run smoothly within the next 3 days..if not i'm going to exchange it or return it...

Updating firmware does have s heavy load on the battery.

As for syncing have you done a restart of the tracker. This is advised if any problems show up after a Firmware update.

As for the clock face I also experienced a loss.

Change your face, Sync, change to what you want, Sync again.

I've done all of that, and two days later now my blaze doesn't wanna move
screens... I keep trying to slide it to the next panel and shut it down and
on it again... And re-sync it... But the blaze I have keeps getting
worse... I'm either going to exchange it or return it all together... I
feel really disappointed at all this hassle. My blaze just keeps getting
worse. This would have been really helpful if it actually worked. I think I
may have just had a defective one I hope.

I got it in the end. I was doing the Initial sync and both the blaze and my phone needed to be fully charged. At first I thought it was just the blaze needed charging so I charged that but nothing was happening still. When I plugged my phone in to charge things started happening. I haven't charged it to my computer as it wants me to connect a dongle

I had one blaze with all these problems returned it and tried again, same thing i returned that one as well, no matter what the cause is not simple to sync or update like previous models. Now looking at other brands aftet losing several hours of both mine and my partner's weekend we won't get back. Very disappointed.

No, me too. It is a combo of Terrible getting started info in the box, and needing to restart the phone cures all of the issues.

Ah I see, I just returned mine today because last night the screen
wouldn't go to the next panel, and it stopped working correctly. I feel
really disappointed and now I'm unsure if I wanna buy another one if this
happens again....

Mine is going on over an hour of updating the firmware and it's only a little over 25%.  Very frustrated with this and fitbit support couldn't help.  they said to wait it out. 😕

I chatted with support and rep told me to reboot the Blaze and reboot my phone. That did it. Now it only took about 10 min to update.

I have been waiting for my new Blaze to be paired to the tracker for over 30 minutes - and agree totally about the lack of documentation.

@bobbiegirl24

Have you entered the pair code yet?

Does the Blaze still say Fitbit.com/setup?

Is your Blaze ir app not responding?

Is it actually doing the firmware update, and showing a progress bar?

Either way it is as suggested above, force close the app and try again.

As for instructions go to the bottom of the page, click or tap help, on the next page click the picture of your tracker, this brings you to the online interactive help manual.

First thing I would do is click on Blaze101.

If you want there is also a pdf manual that can be downloaded and printed out. This would be a lot easier than the tiny paper that came with the Blaze.

LG G4 Android phone. Fitbit Blaze paired.

I'm over 45 minutes and the fitbit screen is only half way.

Yours is very quick!

I have my Blaze with HTC M9+, the first firmware update right after startup took about three hours. This time it took three hours to achieve about 30%, looks like six more hours to go!

Mine only took about 10 minutes, I do not think it should be taking as long as it is for you guys.

My device 90 mins to perform the update, was not impressed by the update procedure. There should be at least a roll back option in case we are pressed for time and wish to resume at later time and date. Or an option to update via PC and charging dock if techincally possible IMO.Very sour experiance.
