Blaze disconnects from Galazy S9 during exercise

I inherited my wife's Blaze when she upgraded to an iWatch. I love almost all the features, but it will disconnect from my Samsung Galaxy S9 when I'm on my walk when the screen goes blank. I checked to make sure the app was allowed to run in the background. I know it's not an issue with the GPS signal because I'm running Pokemon Go and Map My Walk at the same time and they have no issues.

OS version 10.

What settings am I missing to prevent the disconnect?
