Blaze firmware update - 17.8.301.4

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Sorry - I have used a provocative title for this blog post so that I can subscribe to the replies on the thread rather than having to come back to the forum several times a day to see whether the update has come out yet.

Speaking of interesting experiments while we're waiting for the update, I tried attaching the fitbit to my dog's collar when I took her for a walk hoping to earn some extra steps, but it turns out she has quite a long stride length and it only counts the steps from her front legs, so that was pointless.

(just did another sync, and it doesn't appear to have arrived yet)

Another surprisingly good free-step day was taking a horse ride through a snowy pass in the Cardrona valley, and since I was seated in the middle of the horse it registered steps for both front and back legs, and I got my highest step count ever.

(how much mobile data does it use to do a sync?  I'm hoping my employer doesn't ask about the huge spike this month)

Some other little quirks with these devices:

- If you put the Fitbit One in your coin pocket the altimeter doesn't work so well, and you miss out on floors.

- A very windy day (I often work in Wellington, NZ) with strong gusts can register as changes in air pressure, so you get lots of floors without any effort.  Other than trying to stand up in the wind.

- So far I haven't worked out a way to get free floors from an elevator.  I tried walking round in the lift as it went down so that it would think I was climbing stairs, but that doesn't work.  Bit of an awkward silence when the woman from marketing got into the lift too.

- Turbulence won't get you any steps or floors.  If you're scared of flying it might get you cardio though.

Anyway enough of that, I need to re-sync to see if the firmware is here yet.

Totally agree.  Fitbit is not providing value.  The very concept that to have all of the features that Fitbit obviously values we need to buy another wearable pedometer (Charge 2) is repugnant. Differences in hardware I get, and that's totally fair...Fitbit can never make our units more waterproof than the day they were sold, but holding back on features (especially given the sad history of the Blaze IMO) is inexcusable. Yes, the product gets great reviews on Amazon but most are not sophisticated users of fitness gear, they'll just as soon buy another brand at a lower price...or an Apple watch.

Just to clarify and I fully understand the significance of hard core users and what they expect from a pedometer or smart fitness watch.
I'm an ordinary guy who just wants what Fitbit can offer at the moment I read the reviews and made an informative decision on what would be best for me.
I'm sure the update will be with us soon.

Oh no. Fitbit was watching my tracker and released the update while I was asleep, and then pulled it just when i wake up? That is a low blow. I feel betrayed. The dog is whining and barking because she wants to go on the morning walk, and I'm hitting refresh over and over, and there's nothing. This is a disaster. I'm getting no steps, I'm going to be late for work.

It's like Christmas. Who's idea was it to put that at the end of the year so we have to wait so long every time?

For more than one week, I could not Sync my Blaze after first setup from Windows 10.

During the setup, it could detect the bluetooth and connected.

The FitBit app could add the tracker to my account.

All activities are retrieved and displayed correctly.

But after a while, the periodic Sync failed. It said that the tracker need to be re-setup.

No sync anymore.

It is very FRUSTATING....

I have done the hard reset by pressing the left & right button, but it didn't help.

I also have removed the Blaze from bluetooth settings, and made a new pairing process.

I also have tried to remove the tracker from my app, and re-added it.

WHAT ELSE I COULD DO???

This tracker also could not be paired with many of my friends mobile phone (Samsung, Oppo, Lenovo, iPhone). It rejected the pairing process and told me that the PIN or Pass Key was wrong.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN???

Hey all, please see the main thread for anything related to the recent firmware update. If you're experiencing an issue unrelated to the firmware update, I highly encourage that you create a new topic. 🙂
