Blaze floors count incorrect

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have had 4 Fitbits before BLAZE and they all counted "Floors" correctly.  The first Blaze I bought counted 7 out of 10 floors per day.  So I bought another one and wore two on the same wrist.  It counted 4 out of 10 floors that day.

These came from two different Best Buy stores.  I am going to keep the better of the two hoping FitBit can fix this with a firmware update.

A silly workaround . . When you get to the top of the stairs, raise your hand wearing the Blaze high above your head . . this improve the odds of the staircase ascent being recorded.  This wasn't neccesary on the original FitBit Flex released in 2013.

For Moderator . . is this the type of product-wide issue that can be fixed with a firmware update ??

It's great to see you around @swbca. Thanks for troubleshooting this by yourself and share the tips that better worked for you. Your tracker registers a floor when it detects continuous motion combined with an elevation gain of about 10 feet. Because the tracker looks for continuous motion, pausing too long when going up a flight of stairs can cause the tracker to not count the floor. Another cause of inaccurate floors is moisture. For example, the pathway to the altimeter on the back of your tracker can become clogged temporarily with sweat. I recommend wearing your tracker loosely during exercise.

Now, if you are seeing that your tracker is not being accurate at all, feel free to get in touch with our support team, I know they will be glad to help you out since they have the proper tools to see the information that your tracker is registering. For a faster response you can contact them via phone or chat.

Let me know the outcome. Woman Happy

Since Floor Count errors is an issue introduced with BLAZE (not a problem in any previous model), I asked in my question if the stair count function can be changed with a future Firmware Update, or is this hard coded in Blaze and not fixable for units already shipped ?

Regarding the 10 foot elevation change . . 95% of residential stair cases are 9 feet, and I have confirmed that 9 feet doesn't register consistently on Blaze as it did on all prior models.

I understand nuaces of the Floor count,  such as a 20 foor stairway is still only 1 floor, and that pausing half way up the stairs will prevent it from recording the floor.

So please address the chances this issue will be resolved with future firmware releases.  My testing had no aggravating circumstances . . it just doesn't register normal residential staircases correclty.
