Blaze is not being worn but still calculates steps and calories

So I'd like an accurate reason from Fitbit as to why if I take my Blaze off (meaning it is not on my wrist) to sleep at night from 9pm-5am and wake up the next morning I have burned over 2400 calories, and have over 100 steps. Without a legit resolution, my Blaze is going up for sale and I will move to a Garmin device. I like my Blaze but seriously?

is your HRM set to auto or on?

The 2400 is you BMR. You do burn calories sitting, sleeping just being alive.

100 steps is really nothing. Could happen by any slight movement.

Hey there guys @WendyB @Jimmyisblessed @bbarrera, good to see you around! 🙂

@Jimmyisblessed, as @WendyB mentioned, the calories you see whenever you wake up in the morning are your BMR. Your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the rate at which you burn calories at rest just to maintain vital body functions like breathing, heartbeat, and brain activity, all this during the whole day (even when you're sleeping)

Now, when it comes to the steps being  tracked at night, at what time do you see these steps appearing? Do you place your tracker somewhere it's exposed to vibrations that could make it detect them as steps?

I'll be looking forward for your reply. Anything else, we're here to help.

I'm assuming the 2400 calories was for the new day, the 5 hours from midnight to 5am, correct? Even if it was for 8 hours then something is seriously wrong. 2400 calories would be my resting 24-hour burn (BMR) if I weighed 335 pounds. I suspect its because your HRM is set to on or auto.

@WendyB I think you missed the timeframe
