Blaze is not picking up HR

Hi Everyone! I seem to be having difficulties in getting my blaze to read my heartrate at all. I have tried changing the heart rate settings, I have moved the tracker all over my arm, I have tried loosening and tightening the watch straps at different positions and I have reset my tracker several times. It seems when I reset, my heart rate will show for a few seconds (and then without moving at all) it will suddenly stop reading. Is there anything else I can try to fix this? Is this simply a faulty device? Or is this something to be expected with the Blaze? Thanks

I exchanged my Blaze for a new one... This new one works perfectly! I am guessing it was a malfunction with the previous device itself. Thanks again!

A couple of things to consider.  Make sure it is pushed up your arm two finger breadths when you are exercising. This tightens it a bit and gives it more tissue to read.  Sounds like you may have done that, but wanted to make sure.

The other thing that works for some people is to wear the device so the "watch" is on the palm side. This seems to work better for a small subset of people.

Finally, is your skin color very dark? Some people have reported that people with very dark skin (very, very) have problems with the heart rate function.

If none of those things work, I recommend contacting customer service.

Thanks for your tips. I have tried to wear the tracker higher up on my wrist... The same problem seems to occur each time. No heart rate is monitored at all when on my lower palm side either. I do have olive toned skin... Don't even have a tan right now...but I did wonder if that would have an effect. Would you or anyone else suggest resetting it to factory settings? Thanks!

I doubt Olive skin would cause the problem (based on the stories I have read - it is very dark skinned Africans, African-Americans, etc).

Doing a reset never hurts anything (it doesn't really reset any settings, it just reboots the computer).

I will definitely give it another shot and in the meantime I have contacted Customer Support... So hopefully I will finally get use of the heart rate function. Thanks again!
