Blaze is showing calls as Unknown

My Blaze is no longer showing me my phone numbers that is listed in my phone contacts and it isn't showing the incoming number that is not saved in my phone contacts. All incoming calls are showing up as UNKNOWN. I have checked my phone settings and don't see anything that wld prohibit the phone numbers from showing up.

I also can not find the listing on the site or the app that will show me what notifications I have checked to show up on the Blaze. I still receive txt msgs and IM from messenger and they also indicate who sent them.

Hello there @SimplyJaye, thanks for stopping by! I'm sorry for the late response. Thanks for checking your phone settings to make sure that nothing is prohibiting the phone numbers.

I had a similar situation last night, but I just needed to follow these steps:

  • Go into your phone's settings
  • Select "Apps"
  • Select the Fitbit App
  • Find "Permissions"
  • Enable your Contacts (toggle over to the right)

This should allow your phone to recognize callers from your contacts list and their name should appear.

Keep in mind that your tracker will notify of an incoming call, if the person who is calling you is not on your contacts list or is marked as a blocked number (depends on the service provider) you will see them as Unknown. Your tracker and the Fitbit environment do not have Caller ID, only Call Notifications.

Also, I have a friend who had this issue and she figured out it had something to do with the selection of contacts. Contacts display accounts,  some say Phone and some say Google contact and some use both. When she changed the test phone from Phone contact to a Google contact the name showed up on her tracker.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Previously, even if the call wasn't in my contacts, it still showed the incoming phone number. Now, if the number isn't in my phone contact, the incoming call shows up as the last call I received that was programmed in my phone. So not acceptable! SO does the updates not go through a test environment before our lives are disrupted with all these changes? It's like we have to do the testing for the ones that supposedly are making things better and making the money to do such. No, I'm not a happy camper.

Not true, never seen "unknown call" until something happened to my settings, which I did change back to how I previously had it configured.
