I just got my first Fitbit - a Blaze - and I'm wondering whether it's best to let it die completely before recharging or recharge at a certain point before that? First/second notification? I received my unit with half a charge...is it better to let it drain over the next couple days or fully charge it now?
Thanks!!

Hello @curlerlikeyou, the Fitbit Blaze has Lithium-polymer battery like some laptops, tablets and mobile phones. To get the most of your battery:
- If you are using a wall charger make sure it is UL certified.
- Use only original Fitbit chargers.
- Keep your tracker at room temperature when charging it. Hot or cold temperatures can damage the battery.
- Avoid letting your tracker's battery die.
- Don't charge it for more time than suggested ( up to 2 hours)
Basically you just need to take care your Blaze's battery like any electronic device with a Lithium-polymer battery. Some users suggested they charge it when they are taking a shower so it never runs out of battery.
The battery life will depend on your interaction with the tracker for example in mi case I don't use GPS, I have 2 alarms set up and the battery of my Blaze is good for up to 6 days. I charge it when I notice it is approximately at 15%.
Hope this helps! 😉

It can be recharged at any charge left, best to prevent to let it be fully discharged before charging.

It's great to have you here 🙂 @SunsetRunner it's always a pleasure to see you around @curlerlikeyou mine came with half battery level and I left it on the cradle until it reached a full charge, then I started the set up process and so far it's been great. I'm not sure my question has been answered, and I may not have been clear about it.
My question is - When is the best time to charge the Blaze? My thought process is that some phones and things will lose the ability to hold a charge over time. With that in mind, is there any "best practice" for making sure that the Blaze will take and hold a full charge over time?

The Blaze does not have a GPS within it, so that will roll out not using the phone to get a map. That does not mean you can't track the steps without the phone. Choose Hike but before pressing the go arrow, press the settings gear that's found in the lower left. Turn off the GPS. Now press the start. I know this is not the answer you want. Adding internal gps would require a complete redesign of the unit, then there would be no need for the connected gps. It would also be called by some other name. As you have mentioned the Surge has built in GPS and would be better for those long walks when you want to conserve the phone's power. It sounds as if you have both units.
As for music being connected, it's connected as an external keyboard, and should not add to the battery drain. It takes very little power to communicate a key press. If it isn't connected then you won't be able to control the music, the other option would be to turn BT Classic of on the Blaze.
