Blaze no longer connecting to Huawei p20 lite

My blaze no longer connects to my Huawei P20 lite. If I'm lucky the Bluetooth will connect but the app won't sync. I have also noticed now the Bluetooth is finding it as blaze classis with the photo of a watch next to it. The initial blaze is still there with the blue tooth symbol but won't connect. Is anyone else having this problem? It worked before but now doesn't, I'm not aware of any upgrades that have shifted this. Or does fitbit have an answer to when the issue will be sorted with Huawei?? This is the biggest new mobile phone company to be pushing the market at the moment and surely you are losing customers due to this.

Perhaps a bigger question is: "how did it work before?"

Fitbit say:

"Due to Bluetooth issues that prevent certain devices, like Fitbit devices, from syncing, our products aren't compatible with the following phones:

  • Huawei P8 Lite
  • Huawei P9 Lite
  • Huawei P20 Lite
  • Xiaomi Mi 6"

My reading of that is that there is nothing fitbit can do to solve this issue.

Just extremely frustrating when it did work before! The Bluetooth works perfect to connect with other devices - car radio, other phones etc

Yes, it seems that the issue is with syncing over bluetooth rather than just standard connections.
