Blaze not accurate AT ALL

I have read all the previous posts about the Blaze not recording steps accurately, but nothing has really helped me to solve my issue. Maybe I can get some help through this post...

Is there something I need to change on my Blaze for it to actually count ALL my steps? As of now it is not accurate just from walking.

I am a newbie to fitness and just starting out with walking for now, but I noticed that it is definitely not counting all my steps while walking. I wear it on my non-dominant wrist and don't do anything special to it. Just put it on and start walking. I noticed that it won't count steps at times for whatever reason, but then randomly starts tracking super fast.

I understand that not all things are accurate, but I did a comparison with my Sony Smartwatch yesterday and today. Yesterday, my blaze was 1,000 steps UNDER my Sony Smartwatch and today it is already 300 steps behind my Sony watch and I haven't even began my workouts for the day.

Mentally, this is a drag for someone like myself who is needing the motivation to stay active and workout. That was the reason for buying the watch to begin with, but if it is not ACTUALLY working the way it should be, then what is the point?

Do I need a replacement? Is something wrong with my Blaze? Should I just stop wearing it at this point, since it is so not accurate or even close to accurate?

Thanks for all the help in advance!

Thanks for all the help everyone!

The problem was actually my Blaze. It is quite okay though. Had the replacement insurance at Best Buy. Got the Flex 2 now and it works soooo much better. 🙂

Thanks again for all the help!

Welcome to the forums!

Try a restart.

Do it at least 3 times.

Tuner settings go to Wrist and change it to the opposite the you wear it. Like I wear it on my Dominate hand but have the settings as Non-Dominate.

See if these help and let  us know!

Thank you for the help Wendy.

No it does not seem to have fixed anything. Question though: Is there like a slight delay between when you start working out and when the Fitbit will start tracking? I ask because it seems as though there is a type of delay or like the screen is waking up before it does anything. I hope that makes sense? Does the stride have anything to do with this?

Thanks!

I would contact support maybe they can help.

If you are holding on to anything it will not count steps accurately.

One other thing you need to realize is the phone and the Fitbit are two different technologies so the steps would never match @SunsetRunner

Hi there @SunsetRunner. Great to see you in the Community Forums!

I'm sorry your tracker seems not to be very accurate.

In addition to @WendyB's great advice, I'd like to suggest probably doing a step accuracy test. For this, see how many steps you have on your display and start walking and count 100 steps in your head. Once you've counted the 100 steps, stop and see how many steps your tracker shows. A slight difference should be acceptable so see if the difference is small or if it's a big difference.

Now, when you say that you notice a delay on the tracker recording your information, do you mean for SmartTrack to automatically detect your activity or when you record your activity from the exercise shortcuts directly? If you could provide more details about this, it would help a lot.

I'll be waiting for your reply! 🙂

Just a quick note on the delay to be expected.  As your start walking, Fitbit looks for 5 consecutive steps. Once five steps are counted, these five are added to the tracker and then the numbers increase as expected.

Ok while watching the display you may notice that your steps are a little ahead of the display. This is simply a result of the screen refresh rate, and when your feet pause you will notice the steps counted take a second or two to catch up.

Both or normal and expected.
