Some of the other folks mentioned it, but I can confirm that during initial setup, you will not see any battery icon and there is no way to visually confirm that it is charging.  But it is charging.  I charged mine for about 2 1/2 hours.  And the way that I was able to confirm that the charging worked is I went back onto the website dashboard via my PC to figure out some settings, and it was showing a picture of my blaze with a battery icon and confirming that it was fully charged.

It is not whether a charging icon appears or not. It is not charging.

Has been plugged into an iPad large charging block for 8 DAYS now.

Pair with phone, try to update. "Your Blaze's battery is too low to continue. Plug it in  and charge it up before trying again".

Fitbit is sending a new unit. Worried the same is going to happen. Especially since there are now 14 pages devoted to this same issue.

I was also worried my replacement  would do the same rob but it didn't and worked fine

I guess I'll have to contact support as well. I've tried all the options and it still won't charge.

Would it be faster to take back to place of purchase sparklejm03?

I bought it directly from fitbit.com.

Exactly my problem! It won't show that it's charging and it won't begin setup until it is charged 😕 So annoying!

Hi, I went on the site and called the company by phone.... They have to
reconfigure the Fitbit. We bought 2 and we both had to call the company. 10
minutes and all was well afterwards !

That's awesome! I chatted with them this morning about my "not charging" issue and they're already sending a new one.

So I chatted with them this morning and they're already sending a new one out. Hopefully this one lasts longer than 4 months. Maybe I should have gotten the Apple Watch...

@Rob800 when you plug the Blaze into the charger you should feel a slight vibration that is telling you that it is charging. Are you using the wall charger you'd use to charge the phone or iPad?

So I try and setup my new Fitbit Blaze and if refuses - battery too low. So I plug it in to its cradle and lo and behold... nothing. But isn't it supposed to show a little charging icon? I think to myself. Apparently that only happens after you have done the update? Turns out it is charging when initially plugged in, because leaving it for 10 minutes and then retrying the update works! Maybe I'm a bit **ahem** because I work in software QA, but this is not how to design consumer focussed software!

I ended up having to return it. The new one took a charge immediately and as described in their manual. New one working up to my expectations.

@SirWalkalotUK that is correct, until the tracker is setup and the Firmware is running there will be no battery icon.

There however will be a slight vibration while connecting and disconnecting.

I had suffered the exact same issue as described in many of the posts in this thread - wouldn't update, then said battery too low, then still wouldn't update when mounted in the Blaze USB dongle. It was driving me mad. So here's what worked for me, twice, on two different Blaze.

Firstly, when it shows the fitbit/setup screen, as others have said, there is no visual indication it's charging (FitBit need to improve that, but that's an aside). I knew it charged OK from the computer's USB because my first Blaze charged in the dongle connected to the laptop. That first Blaze developed a problem where the battery level would suddenly drop and FitBit exchanged it (good service from them), but that's not especially relevant (different issue). The point is that I remember having the same issue with that first Blaze during setup, that it wouldn't sync or update. The solution was to get my son to sync it using his iPhone (i.e. using Bluetooth) by temporarily adding it to his FitBit account. That got it beyond the setup screen and all was fine after that and I could sync it (using the Blaze USB dongle) and update it via my laptop.

When I came to setup the replacement Blaze I had the same issue not being able to get beyond the setup screen, only this time I also got the low battery/can't continue update syndrome, with the Blaze attached in its dongle. I noticed the FitBit Windows app flashed 'unable to pair' momentarily and wouldn't find it (bear in mind it had been working with the first Blaze and I was setting up a new one - it did recognise I was trying to attach a new one, so it clearly was 'seeing it'). It shouldn't have mattered that it couldn't pair it because it was plugged in via USB! I sensed it absolutely wanted to only connect via Bluetooth at this stage, as seemed to be the case with the first Blaze of mine. So I removed the dongle from the laptop and plugged it into a wall wart USB charger (as others here had suggested and which stopped the 'low battery' messages eventually, after a few hours charging), but it still wouldn't sync/update. I then paired it via Bluetooth LTE instead, and it found it, synced and started the update. Once that was completed, all was fine and I could connect and sync via the USB dongle.

So for me, the key was to sync the Blaze via Bluetooth initially (until it has updated) - it just wouldn't sync it while in the USB dongle. I'm on Windows 10, which might be relevant (though Win 10 has been around a while now, who knows what OS version was in the Blaze I received). Bear in mind you may have issues with older computers that don't support Bluetooth LTE. It seems that the Blaze should support classic Bluetooth (switchable on the watch) but I've not got that working on an older machine, only via Bluetooth LTE.

Hi

Just brought my new blaze and like others it wont set up as the unit says their is not enough charge in the battery to do that.

I am trying to charge it via my PC and notice that the PC indicates connection then disconnection from it by another device. Similar to when you plug something in then take the plug out again. I know the PC USB port is OK as I have just cherged a Fitbit Alta HR from it with no problems.

I am not overly happy about this as I live in the UK and it looks like I now have a 60 mile round trip back tot eh store I brought it from.

I am leaving the device in its charger overnight with the PC switched on to see if it charged up by morning, but I suspect it has a defective charger and wont charge.

Shame really as it looks like a good bit of kit, but I really dont have time to mess about and if it does not work I will get my money back on Monday.

Just noticed some spelling errors in my last post, sorry about that, it should have read:
