I had the same issue - during inital set-up, Fitbit said battery was too low and couldn't finish set-up. However is you plug the Fitbit into the crable via aPOC and charge. YOu can carry on with the setup (which requires a software update too) the Fibit springs to life.
I hope this helps everyone in the same position.
Happy Holidays

I got my blaze today. didnt charge or update.here is what i figured out on how to get it going. hope I can save you some wasted time.
1.be sure to place blaze in charger with pins aligned, charge with Wall charger NOT PC. (windows doesnt recognize it and shuts down the USB port.)
2.you can pair it before or after to app, but let it charge for half hour or so. there will NOT be any indication of charging but it does.
3. on your app once paired check the battery level, when its half charged or so, update the firmware keep the fitbit charging.

I was is the middle of setting up my fitbit blaze when it just shut off. I plugged it into a usb and there was no indication of it charging. I think it may be defective.

@PierceRodyour battery probably just died.... plug it in to a wall outlet usb charger, not your computer.

This worked perfectly. Plugged it into a wall using my phone charger and it was halfway charged in about 30 minutes. I was then able to do the entire update.
Thanks a bunch.

Did you read the messages directly above and try the suggestions? You can't charge it out of the box (usually) using a computer or USB hub. It will not charge. Use a charger you can plug straight into the wall. Wait 30 minutes and try the update.

Solved:
Like a lot of you, I had purchased a Fitbit Blaze and it was not charging. I actually had a replacement sent - the replacement also would not charge. Two different units, two different docks - nothing. Spoke with support, they asked for me to perform basic and common sense type of troubleshooting that I had already tried :
Plug into USB port on computer - tried two different computers - no charge
Try plugging into a wall jack via a usb adapter - tried two USB adapters - no charge.
Finally - tried a generic usb wall adapter. I was previously using a usb adapter for my cell phone - Samsung Galaxy. I tried two adapters , both were Samsung phone usb wall adapters. I then used a generic usb wall adapter I found laying around the house that I had used in the past for an older phone - charged right away and I was able to update the Fitbit and it is now working correctly.
Fitbit support, I suggest looking into this issue as I'm sure many people will try charging with a phone usb charger and it might not work depending on the usb adapter they are using - also, why is the Fitbit Blaze not sent with an adapter?

I'm with you on this! How can so many people be having the same problem. Clearly this is a design fault. I am having the same problem and finding it difficult to get through to customer support. I sync'd my new blaze to my account as I had the four numbers displayed on the blaze but that was the end of the process as my computor indicates there is no charge on the blaze. I have followed all of the instructions correctly for charging but get nothing but the fitbit.com/set up screen on the blaze. I have tried the 'shut down and restart' instructions but nothing happens. It doesn't shut down at all and I still have the same fitbit.com/set up screen.

Hi all,
I went to get a refund from JBHi Fi today, but a young lady there was able
to download some firmware and get it to charge. So now I'll have another go
at getting it going!

today 12/31/16 i purchased brand new blaze. I was replacing my charge hr with the Blaze. I cannot get it to charge in the cradle. what I do see is the fitbit logo and that is all. No battery showing progress, nothing....... I am not able to tell if it is on and I am not able to pair it. I am not able to add device to my fitbit account. I am beginning to wonder why I did this? Please assist. thank you.

For
How are you trying to charge it? For me I couldn't charge it via my computer usb or my Samsung Galaxy usb wall adapter. I also tried multiple docks and even had a replacement Blaze sent, had the same issues. I ended up using an old usb wall adapter that was just a generic one I got a couple yrs back, it charged right away. After it was charged I was able to sync it and update it. Working great now.

@REi77Y I'm glad you are up and stepping.
For you and @catinmylap while the Blaze has the www.fitbit.com/setup the software is not running the main program and will not display any charge indicator, it will gently vibrate when it is connected to the charger.
So yes until the tracker is setup and firmware updated, there will be nothing on the display showing that it is charging.
Then again it might not need to be charged. The app will tell you sitting the setup process.
