adjust your stride length in advanced settings

@Wodie Stride length affects distance, not the number of steps counted. Blaze has a bug. Fitbit has never expressed any interest in fixing it.

So I spoke to a rep who tried to help and eventually hooked me up with a new unit coming in the mail.
Ironically, yesterday my app told me my device needed to update - which I don’t recall ever seeing before. I did the update and now my fitbit appears to be working perfectly. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ we’ll see how long this lasts but maybe this update actually solved the problem. 🤞🏻

@AliciaCA Are you saying that the recent updater finally fixed this year old issue? I stopped using my Blaze and threw it in a drawer almost a year ago because of this. I may charge it and update it. If its counting steps correctly I can finally sell it and have a somewhat good conscience.

I spoke too soon. Yesterday my blaze took away a few minutes worth of steps from one period of exercise and I didn’t think it was a big thing. Today, I just stepped in place for around 20 minutes and it only counted about 8 minutes of steps. I highly doubt the recurrence of this problem is a result of the time change and issues surrounding it. 😒

I am having the issue too. Deleted auto excercise but it is still an issue.

Hi I think a lot of people have this issue I upgraded to the ionic and sometimes it doesn’t count my steps too but then it auto corrects itself I don’t know why overall I’m happy with the upgrade due to the many more things you can do with the ionic but I also miss my blaze

My blaze counts the same amount of steps whether I walk at 3 mph or 31/2 mph. I have reset it but it didn't help. Any suggestions

I've checked and it is set as non dominant but thank you. Any other ideas.
I'll try anything!

I am so frustrated with my Blaze as well. I have figured out through much testing that it is only recording about 65% of my steps. I have become obsessed with it which is really counter productive. A step should be a step. I have read all of the other posts and glad to see that I am not crazy. I will try restarting again.

I'm pretty bummed out too. Frustrated that I can walk at 4mph and it won't
count the steps. Might as well stick at 3 mph. I have restarted it twice
with no improvement. Let me know if you find a cure. Thanks.
