Blaze not recording cycling distance

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Not sure if this is a new topic. Short story, when i go out cycling and sync the Blaze with my iphone, the watch records the time, my HR, even gives a calorie count that seems reasonable HOWEVER it only records about 50% of the total distance covered. Phone and watch are fully charged and no interruption to the activity any time during the ride until the end.

Any pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated

Hey there @DeepBlueSea. Welcome to the Fitbit Community! 🙂

Whenever you do this, do you start the cycling activity on your Blaze? If not, be sure that right before you get on your bike, you go to the exercise screen on your Blaze and start the Cycling activity. This will for sure record your distance more accurately since it will connect to your phone and the distance will be provided by your phone's GPS.

Let me know if you need more help with this!

I'm disappointed with the accuracy of distance when cycling also. I regularly travel 5 miles to work and back and the closest a seem to get with the blaze is 3.71 miles and it often I connect via the blaze every time. I also have route which is 8.5 miles but the blaze gets nowhere near this either. My phone is a samsung s6 edge by the way.

@Nick69, If you take your tracker somewhere the reception is not very good, this could cause your tracker to quit recording the GPS information causing it not give you an accurate distance calculation. Have you noticed if your GPS connectivity is constant during your bike ride?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community by the way!

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I worked with the folks from Fitbit for about a month trying to resolve the issue to no avail. 100% kudos to your team for trying to resolve the issue!

Ultimately i got a refund for the device and now have a Garmin 235. I thnk you guys are onto a good thing but when you separated the GPS and the device you created significant problems. Resolve that and you have a winner n this product
