Blaze not registering my steps

I did a workout setting today using elliptical, and all those steps did not register. As proof here is a picture of machine. Battery is half full. I should have 8500 steps

Welcome to the Community @Widgmodo.

Unfortunately, I am not able to see the attachment, you can follow the instructions provided in this post in order to attach the image one more time. Now about your steps issue, keep in mind that the tracker will detect your steps depending on your arm movement and if you are actually walking. In an elliptical you can have arm movement but you are not walking.

My recommendation is to register this activity directly from your Blaze. If you don't have "elliptical" in your shortcuts exercises, you can add it by doing the following from your Fitbit app:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon.
  2. Tap Exercise Shortcuts.
  3. To add a new shortcut, tap Exercise Shortcut and select an exercise.
  4. To remove a shortcut, swipe left on an exercise name, then tap Delete

But I don't guarantee it will register all of your steps since as mentioned, you are not actually walking.

Hope this helps, let me know the outcome. Smiley Happy

Hi!

I have 2 questions:  My Fitbit took off steps last night, is this because I had registered the time as exercise? Also, My Fitbit has quit reminding me to get up and move for my 250 steps. This isn't really a problem, since I check for time myself and usually get them in, but it is fun to have the buzz on my wrist.  Although I miss the steps I get in early in the am, since they are before 9 am they don't count, other than steps, I guess.

Thanks!

Hey there @elizabethhulse, welcome to the Forums. I will be glad to help you with your inquires:

1. About your steps, you mentioned that you manually log an activity but can you specify which one you logged? Since manually logging activities like walking or running might decrease your steps information. If you did manually log these activities, I recommend deleting it. for more information about how to log activities, you can take a look at the How do I manually log an activity or exercise? article.

2. If your tracker isn't buzzing, I recommend restarting it and check that you have the reminders to move option on by doing the following:

  1. On the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Hourly Activity tile. This is the tile that shows the number of hours you completed 250 steps.
  2. Tap the gear icon and turn Reminders to Move on or off.

I hope this helps, let me know the outcome. Smiley Happy

Thanks, Alejandra!
I hope to get on top of it tomorrow.

That article was very helpful, I was pretty sure that putting the
steps down cost me 2k steps, but I had no real knowledge of why.

Take care!
