I noticed my blaze doesn't always respond to taps when on the clock screen [using pop]. Is anyone else noticing that?

I had the same issue.  Then I discovered if I tap quickly 2 times it responds everytime.

Yes, that's true, but I think part of the issue is that if you get a phone call it should light up on it's own to show you who is calling.  Not have to tap on it over and over until it decides to wake up.  By then, I've missed the call.

It seems like most of us are experiencing the same issue. Tapping does not wake the clock and phone calls should wake it immediately. Do you think this is a hardware issue or software? In other words, if these issues are deal breakers for us do we return the device and wait for another or be guaranteed a software fix in the very near future?

When you get a phone call, Just simply bring the blaze up 5o your face as if 6ou want to read the time. It will light up..

That is assuming you have quick view on. I do not. I don't like it lighting up all the time especially at night, watching a movie or TV or anytime actually unless I want it to. It seems like a battery drain as well flashing on the watch anytime you move your wrist.

I found that if you really whack it, like a double tap as if you're giving a noogie, it will wake up all the time. Hopefully the glass is strong and the construction sound.

I hope Fitbit decides to put the option to turn this on/off in a future update. I turned off quick view to save battery and now that this will turn the screen on all the time with barely even being nudged. Please fix this and save my battery life Fitbit.

I have the same problem with tapping the Blaze screen to wake it up. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it takes many taps to wake it. Turning my wrist usually will wake it up but sometimes also it won't wake if the motion is not dramatic enough.

I used to have a Surge and screen stays on during exercise. This is especially useful during workout to see real time data and not having to wake it up to check. It is kind of annoying now having either to turn my wrist to see my HR or to tap it, which may not work.

Can it be set that during exercise, the screen will stay on all the time? This is critical for people who care about real time visual.

Thanks!

The Surge screen is a different technology, and uses almost no power to stay on, since it produces no light to view during the day.
The Blaze display is like a tv in that it is composed of many leds, and puts a heavy station on the battery.

As 4 tapping i found that tapping to light or to strong/sharp arms to cause problems. A light but firm tap seems to work best.

From the Fitbit Blaze 101 Guide: "Navigating

Press any button or double tap the frame to wake up your Fitbit Blaze."

I turned off Quick view because it was too sensitive. I figured I'd use the double tap to wake it up. I've tried double tapping everywhere with mixed results. What works most consistently for me is a firm tap in the center of the display. Not discreet, but works for me. Your results may vary. Good luck!

There seems to mid differing advice here.
Can the moderators please confirm, as it's bloody confusing.

The mod on Feb 29th wrote - "Blaze shouldn't bring up the screen by tapping the display; we've implemented Quick View so that tapping isn't necessary."

This isn't true as the instructions says that two taps should wake it up. And I had the issue with my pop screen, called Fitbit and was told that two taps slightly stronger than normal is the way to go. They also recommended that I restart the device.
My blaze generally takes around 5/6 taps to wake up on the pop screen which is the one I prefer.

Can we have some clarity please moderators?

Thank you.

@David8732 if your looking for a moderator, then flagging one should help.

But to answer your question,  two quick firm taps should turn the screen on. It can also be tùrned on by pressing a button or Quick view.

Just to be clear, I am not having a problem with my Fitbit responding to taps to wake it. It is when on the pop screen to flip through the options (steps, heart rate, etc). My Fitbit has never had a problem waking.

Thanks for checking that, @David8732!

I've edited my post for clarity.

Hey Fitbitters! Thank you for the details that each of you have mentioned. That's correct Fitbit Blaze should wake up using both methods tap on it or using quick view.

When you're receiving a call, it will not wake up by itself, you should tap on it or move your wrist to see the notification, I don't think this is a hardware issue, it's just the way it was designed. However, you can always post your idea in the Ideas Board because those suggestions are viewed directly by our engineers and developers. You can also post the idea about keep the display on while you're exercising.

@Steffybee It's nice to see you around! This is still a bug. However, I'll make sure to post any update here.

@Steffybee I've noticed the same,  yes it might be s bug, but i think the logic just needs fine tuning. Anyway i noticed that a very light tap seems to work best for me. Also giving a 2-3 second period between taps, seems to limit my frustrations.

The "navigation 101" excerpt above says double tap the frame. Does this make a difference vs double tapping display for anyone?

It doesn't seem to matter where to tap. It's just hits and misses.
Sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Hope firmware upgrade can fix this.
Otherwise, it is a defect.
