Just bought a Blaze in UK yesterday, set it up, downloaded app. It worked when connected to the USB charger, although time was wrong. When transferred to the cradle, it did not work. Contacted Fitbit support. They suggest that I take it back to the store where I bought it. It has a 2 year guarantee, but disappointing start.

I'm sorry but things happen. All products can have a dud somewhere along the line.

I would like to know if you keep having issues with your Blaze? If you do and your tracker keeps unresponsive outside the cradle, I recommend restarting it.
Let me know the outcome.
