Blaze often won't track GPS (check Fitbit app message)

I use my Blaze to track the mountain bike rides I do several times a week. But about a third of the time when I start the ride, the Blaze shows a red line through the phone icon with the message "Check Fitbit app."

The Fitbit app invariably shows that the Blaze IS connected to the phone (iPhone X). I actually ride the same route most of the time, and this problem can occur when it's windy or calm (I sometimes wondered if that was the culprit.)

Is there another setting I'm missing, and/or how can I make this work all the time. Very, very very VERY aggravating!!

Hi there @Marcster. Good to see you in the Forums! 🙂

I'm sorry you're having problems with your Blaze not connecting to your phone's GPS. I've had this happening to me before and this has to do with the app not being open/been force quit before.

Please, make sure that if you're going to use the Connected GPS feature, the Fitbit app is running at least in the background. What I do is that I open the Fitbit app on my phone, start the exercise on my Blaze but wait for it to let me know that it has connected to my Blaze successfully and then, start my workout and it has worked fine for me so far.

Please make sure of that and let me know if you need any more help with this!

So you mean open the Fitbit app on the phone and keep it open during my activity?

I never had to do that before but, as I say, GPS tracking would be unavailable about a third of the time.

Thanks for getting back @Marcster!

No, not open the app and keep it open for the entire activity. Just open the Fitbit app, choose the activity on your tracker and once it connects, you can just lock your phone but don't force close the Fitbit app.
