Just got a Blaze yesterday for my birthday. Charged it up and synced it to my phone. Once charged, I took it out the cradle only to discover that absolutely nothing happens once it's off of charge. Can't get the screen to come on at all. Phone doesn't find it and can't do a reset on it as it's as if it's completely dead, even though it's at full battery charge. Any suggestions?

Try a restart. Do it at least 3 times.

I can't do a restart because as soon as I take it out of the charging dock, it's dead and nothing works.

Try charging the Blaze using a phone charger plug. Getting an initial charge into these seems to be a quirky process. Use a power source that has an output of 1 amp/1000mah or less.
Try it. At this point you have nothing to lose. It sounds to me as if your battery is dead. While in the charger cradle the unit may be powered but perhaps the battery is not charging. Other posters have commented on quirky behavior. Maybe yawl found a new quirk.

Nah, that's not what I want to do either. It comes with a charger. It is charging, just not holding one. I'm taking it back this morning for an exchange.

It would be interesting to know what you end up doing when the replacement doesn't work the way it is supposed to work.

It's great to welcome you @SunsetRunner, @SunsetRunner and @WendyB thanks for stopping by.
I would like to know if you keep having problems with your Blaze? If you do, as recommended by our friend @WendyB please perform the restart procedure a couple of times more, since it is weird to hear that your Blaze is not working while it is out of the charger.
Let me know the outcome.

I am experiencing the exact same issue and this is very disappointing. You kept getting the response try charging it this way or try restarting. These ppl with these suggestions fail to realize that once the device is sitting in the charging portal it says fully charge however once removed from the charging portal and placed back on in between the wristband we solely receive a black screen and cannot do anything none of the buttons on the side when pushed work. No combination of pressing any buttons on the side work. Very disappointing as this as this is not my first Fitbit device and the last I had was defective also in terms of its design (I.e. the middle area plastic broke off which held the middle part together including the buttons - used slightly not often). Given the numerous complaints online dealing with this same issue regarding the Blaze the company needs to address this before people spend their money on these things. No point in getting a replacements Igbo the replacement is likely to have exact same issue.

@Caloric18 you could try three restarts, this has fixed it for some. However if it doesn't, there is the choice of exchanging for a replacement or contacting Fitbit.

The suggestion I made months ago regarding this problem has worked for me and others. Why is it that the gurus that keep parroting the click your heels three times mantra do not suggest this simple alternate power source option? Again, It Works. I will not even try to explain why it works. It did not cost me anything to try it. I, like most other people that have FitBits, have numerous devices that use USB chargers/power supplies. I used an alternate power source that got me past the initial charge and update issue. I have used the supplied power supply ever since. FitBit didn't have to replace anything.
Frankly, I'm surprised that this continues to be a problem. FitBit should have fixed this by now. How many people have returned their FitBits because they didn't know to try the alternate power supply option? How many people have received a replacement FitBit only to find they have the same problem? Probably could have saved a lot of people a lot of frustration if yawl would get off the "restart three times" soap box and actually dispense some useful advice.
What becomes of all the FitBits that get returned because of a problem that is so easily remedied?

@SunsetRunner I am not able to follow you, Fitbit does not come with any power supply.. Therefor I'm not sure what the alternet would be?

You're right. It does not come with a power supply. An alternate power supply would be something other than a laptop. But then, I think you knew that.
You don't need to suggest to me to use a phone charger. I've already suggested that myself months ago. You and others responding to complaints of this nature need to suggest an alternate power supply (read phone charger) as a remedy.
I'm finished with this discussion. You can reply if you feel compelled to do so. I'll never see it.

To me an alternet PS would be a laptop or computer, considering many today don't own either.

Thank you to all that responded. Unfortunately to no success the device I had would not work so it was returned after exhausting all different techniques and means to get it to function. Thanks for responding to my post.
