Blaze 'phone not found' when selecting 'bike' exercise

I've seen a number of pages with a number of different suggestions to fix this but still I can't get it to work.

Bluetooth works fine for syncing but not when I want to log a bike ride.

I've turned phone off & on, reset blaze, checked & played about with location settings on my phone but no difference.

Is this a known issue as I've seen other people having the same problems?

Hi, @jamesbravo, unfortunately that sounds a likely explanation.

Hi, @jamesbravo, you will get this message if the Blaze is for some reason unable to launch "connected GPS" on your phone.

In order to launch connected GPS your phone needs to be a supported device.  Also, although you do not need to have internet connection once your phone is connected, you DO need to have internet (cellular or wifi) to LAUNCH the connected GPS.

If your phone is compatible, and you have internet, you may just need to try again.  I frequently have to try 3 or 4 times on my Blaze when activating Connected GPS before I get the "Let's go!" message.

I hope this helps.  Welcome to the Community!

Open the Fitbit app, sync and then leave it open. Now you should be able to use connected GPS.

Thanks for the reply.

Maybe its my phone (Doogee x5) as its not listed as a supported device.

Thanks but I've tried and still no luck. Think its because my phone (Doogee x5) is not a supported device

@jamesbravo do you receive notifacations on the Blaze?

This service needs to be running since the GPS uses it.

Really? I had notifications off. As I had them on connection got lost too. It worked for me that I keep the app running.

You can have the individual notifacations turned off, but you need the Notifacation Services turned on. This is done through the settings gear on the notification settings page.

Hi, @The_Lion, I do not think you need to have notifications on.  You do need to turn notifications on to "pair" your phone in the first place.  After that, as you have observed, notifications can be turned off.

@Rich_Laue, I do not believe that what you say about notifications is correct.  Since my "real" phone is a Windows phone, I use an old Android to run with Blaze and Charge 2 with connected GPS.  All notifications are disabled or off.  The phone has no SIM.

@jamesbravo, if everything else works on your phone, including notifications, it may just be a matter of trying several times.  As I mentioned, I get the "phone not found" message MANY times when I am trying to launch connected GPS, but if I start over 4 or 5 times I can get connected.  I agree it is a little frustrating...

It's time that Fitbit brings a new tracker with GPS. That connected GPS is really crap. Not only that you have to carry your phone with you all the time even when it rains, you often have these problems with the connection.

@Julia_G on Android, swipe down on the notification bar, do you see an entry that Fitbit notifications are running?

Hi. @Rich_Laue sorry, but my notifications settings say

calls: off

text messages: disabled

calendar events: disabled

You definitely do not need notifications to run a connected GPS.

Then try it as I said above. It worked fine for me.

@Julia_G im refferring to notifacation Services, not the individual notification settings. On the page your looking at, look in the top right corner and tap the settings gear. This is where the services are disabled or enabled.
