Blaze records excessive data (flights and steps)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi all,

I'm not sure what is going on with my Fitbit but it seems that it is recording excessive data (flights and steps) to the point that it is recording  steps and flights when sitting in a car or on the lounge, when I know that I'm not doing anything to record the data. An example is today I went on a car journey of one hour and recorded 14 floors when I had done none. Also in that hour i recorded over 250 steps.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Fitbit Family @djc050905! When you're driving your tracker may detect some steps and floors. However, you can delete this data by logging driving as an activity:

  1. Log into your fitbit.com dashboard.
  2. At the top of the screen click Log > Activity.
  3. Find the data you want to negate by selecting a date range.
  4. In the activity menu, type in "Driving" and enter the duration and start time.
  5. Click Log Activity. Your steps, floors, and calories burned will decrease for the time period you specified.

Additionally, you may want to vote for this idea Add driving mode. Because those ideas are viewed by our engineers and developers and the best of this is that people can vote for them.

Is your Blaze tracking your data properly besides the moments when you're at a car?

Keep me posted. Hope this helps!

Silvia,

I've looked this AM for a way to follow the instructions to modify the step/floor count but there is no "Log" in the menu selections for the current version of the "Dashboard".

I've already voted for the "Driving mode".

New FitBit user and a new Blaze.

Thank you, Silvia.  I was missing the part that there is an on line version of the Dashboard.

I notice that this particular problem was reported 4 years ago although the suggestion board didn't see it until a year later.  Can you tell us how long it takes to get the attention of someone who will take action on the request?  How can we speed up the process other than vote?

With all due respect, the altimeter is pretty useless. It does not count accurately your flights of stairs. In my opinion, I would have sealed the device and made it waterproof instead of having an altimeter. Just my thought.

Hey @2Paps! Currently, the Feature Suggestion board is there for our users to make their voice heard. Our engineers and developers are always checking the board to implement this ideas in the trackers or Dashboard. The only way to support a suggestion is by voting for it or comment.

Welcome to the Community @Spongie! Thanks for your feedback. Fitbit is always trying to improve its trackers and website. Have you had any issue with your floor count?

Additionally, Fitbit trackers that count floors have an altimeter sensor that can detect when you're going up or down in elevation. Your tracker registers one floor when you climb about ten feet at one time. It does not register floors when you go down.

Hope this helps!

I went for a 4 hr. ride on my motorcycle Sat. 28 Jan, 2016 and gained over 80 floors!  Also logged 4000+ steps during that time!  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr  When is it going to be fixed?  Do I need to vote again?

It's great to see you around @2Paps! Thanks for your feedback. Currently, the only option to remove this data that's recorded while you're on the motocycle is logging driving. Regarding the idea that's already posted in the feature suggestion board, those suggestions are viewed by our engineers and Fitbit is always implementing new features to make you feel comfortable with trackers.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.
