Hey my friend @racertempo, welcome to the Fitbit Community! The following resellers are not authorized:
Fingerhut, Wacky.com, MClego.com, Buydig.com, beachcamera.com, gettington.com, Fry's, newegg.com, Groupon.
Go here to see our authorized retailers where you can purchase your Fitbit and get your 365 day warranty.
Adding of what @Rich_Laue says, The FPP extends the standard warranty from one year to two years and includes accidental damage ("user damage"). To find out, file a claim with the plan provider at https://www.squaretrade.com/fileClaim/index.html. If you have a question about your claim after filing please check with SquareTrade. Fitbit does not have access to claim status and all decisions made by SquareTrade are final.
The FPP is only available to fitbit.com customers in the US who buy an Alta, Blaze, Charge 2, or Flex 2.
Have a nice day guys!

They do not carry a Fitbit warranty so buyer beware.

There is only a 90 day warranty on those devices from Woot, an unathorized retailer.
Fitbits purchased from an authorized retailer have a 365 day warranty. Now Fitbit offers an extended warranty plan, when purchased directly from them.
Not sure I'd want to risk buying an open box item, which could have an unknown problem.
