I walk the same route with my dog every day. For the first year I had my blaze it tracked a very similar distance. I have now purchased a new Blaze, that did not work correctly so it was replaced. The variation in distance is up to half a mile and/or 1000+ steps. I am VERY frustrated. Ideas please?

More info is needed @marymd.
Are you using the connected GPS and seeing a map of the walk?
Is the leash in the hand with the tracker?
This especially when the dog pulls could keep the tracker from seeing your steps.
Why? The tracker looks at arm motions to determine when the legs are moving.

It is connected to the GPS and I can see the map of the walk. I have taken screen shots with 3 identical routes and 3 very different distances shown.
The leash is in opposite hand of the tracker..

I am unsure as to your question here.

I wanted to know if GPS was used. If gps was not used them the step count would be very important to the distance. I read that GPS is used to calculate distance but have not been able to verify this with tests yet.. The first firmware only used gps for distance in run and bike mode.
You say distance changes but does the step count also chsnge? If so can you post some exsmples?
