Blaze will not sync with Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge or Galaxy S5

We've had Charge HRs for some time and didn't have problems syncing them with our old phones (Galaxy S5s).  We recently upgraded our phones to the S7 (my daughter) and the S7 Edge (me).  We had no problems syncing our Charge HRs with the new Galaxy S7s.  Today, I bought a Fitbit Blaze and have been trying to sync it with my S7 Edge for many, many hours with no luck.  The 16 year old daughter assumed I was just being incompetent and took over.  She tried to sync it with my phone, her phone (the Galaxy S7) and with my old phone, the Galaxy S5.  No luck with any of the phones.  The Blaze took a long time for the initial update (about 2 hours) but did eventually boot up.  The screens all look fine and it's counting steps but it won't transfer the information.  We have restarted all of the phones and the Blaze with no luck.  My daughter is convinced that the Blaze is defective but I thought I'd check and see if anyone has any ideas before we return it.

When you earth it can't sync,  i can only assume tgat the Blaze has already been setup to your accoint, is this correct?  Also am wondering what sad used to setup the Blaze?

Now for the can't sync, are there any errors or red circles to tap on?

Have you tried a restart of the tracker, or the Shutdown found under settings. Then a complete yurn off of the phone?

I have restarted the blaze and phones several times. I restarted the blaze both by shutting down and by using the buttons. I removed the fitbit app from my phone and reinstalled it. When I start the setup process, during the part when it says to have the blaze near your phone and press the left button to turn on the blaze display, the phone can't find the blaze. It says to restart the blaze and try again, which I have done at least 20 times.

Did you remove your other Fitbit device from your account? I had problems syncing my Blaze to my account while I still had my One on it. That was with syncing to my S5. I just got the S7 a few nights ago, as well as a replacement Blaze and it syncs fine (I do not have the One on the account at this time).

I agree that the software update took such a long time that I thought it was going to fail, but it did finish and move forward. I used the Blaze/S7 this morning on a run and everything worked as it should as far as connecting to the phone GPS, controlling music, etc.

I have found with the S7 I still need to restart the Blaze and the phone each morning to "wake everything up" to be able to receive notifications and phone alerts. Then it works fine all day, so far.

hi you need to remove the blaze from your other phone as it is still paired with it  (just go to device on menuwithin app and long press on the device ,a small window appears and tap unpair/remove ) then you can pair with new phone with a fresh pairing code number

I disagree you don't need to remove it from the other devices, a simple disconect the Bluetooth if it says connected will be sufficient, or turn BT off.

Saying remove it, some people will remove it from the app, and this has then been removed it from your Fitbit account.

As for pairing with an android phone this is done through the app automatically,  at least it should be.

Simply go to the phone ypu want to use download Fitbit, log into your account. The app knows which tracker ypu have amd should simply pair it.

This is how it worked when i switched to my S5

If it doesn't there is something else going on, if there are any Red! Please tap on them amd let us know the erro4 message.

We made some progress.  To clarify, the Blaze wasn't connected to any phone - we tried to connect it to my S7 Edge, my old S5 and my daughter's S7 - it wouldn't connect to anything last night/early this morning.  My final try last night was to uninstall the app from my computer and my phones, restart the phones and the Blaze and reinstall the apps.  Then I tried from the beginning of the setup process to connect the Blaze to my phones and my computer and nothing worked.  That's when I gave up and slept - it was 4:00am.

This morning, we started up again.  I had to get a workout in so just took my Charge HR with me and left the Blaze with my daughter.  She removed the Charge HR from the Fitbit app using my old Galaxy and was able to add the Blaze.  It is now mostly working but I don't consider this resolved because I should be able to have both the Blaze and the Charge HR associated with my account.  We tried adding the HR back on after getting the Blaze set up but that didn't work.  We also have been unable to get the text notification to work properly.  Call notification does work.  I don't control music while working out so haven't worried about that aspect.

I do like the capabilities of the Blaze and the band of the HR has really irritated my skin so I'm looking forward to changing the band.  Hopefully the few bugs that are left will be fixed with software updates.  And, I hope the battery really lasts 5 days so I'm not constantly wishing I could use my HR while the Blaze is charging.

Thanks for the suggestions - at least it's up and somewhat working now.

What texting app are you using? If you're using Message+ it's doubtful you will get notifications to work consistently. You need to revert to the device's native app, Messages. I still had some inconsistency, though, with Messages. I followed advice posted here to try the app Textra and have had really good luck with it working consistently (I also like the customizable features of it). The only downside to Textra that I have encountered is with group messages. With replies to a group message I receive usually two notifications for each message (regardless of how many people are in the group--there doesn't seem to be a correlation between the number of duplicate messages and the number of people in the group). I'll take multiple notifications over none.

Since I finally got it all working well, I have been hesitant to add my One back to my account since I was unable to get the Blaze to work initially with it on there. I use the One in certain circumstances, so will get brave soon and give it a try.

We tried both the native texting app and Message+ with varying results.  The native app would only give notifications if it was set up as the default on my phone *and* if I closed it on my phone.  I get notifications from Message+ whether I remember to close it but nothing of the actual message, just that the person sent me a text.  I'll never remember to close the native app so am using Message+ for now.

We tried adding the Charge HR back in after getting the Blaze working - it wouldn't let us do that.

I was able to add my One back onto my account, in addition to the Blaze, and it worked fine. How frustrating for you that it's not working as it should.

I am also unable to sync my new Fitbit Blaze with a Samsung Galaxy S7.

Any hacks?

Your assurance is not reassuring.

The S7 does not sync with the Blaze.

If the Blaze cannot be synced to the Galaxy S7, how can I set the time?

I'm not really sure what to say, other than the Blaze does sync with the S7, as my Blaze syncs perfectly with my S7. No hacks, just open the app and sync. There must be something wrong in the steps you've taken and unfortunately the trick is ascertaining what and how that can be overcome.

I'd suggest starting from scratch, and assuming you've successfully added the Blaze to your account, (how, if you've not done it with the non-syncing S7?) and do a fresh install of the app after a complete delete/shut-down/restart of the phone. Then launch the app again, ensuring Bluetooth is switched on first, and see what happens.

I'm having the same problem. I bought my Fitbit Blaze yesterday, April 1st. I have a Galaxy Note Edge which was recently updated. I also have a Fitbit Flex connected to my account. The devices do sync to my iPad mini but not my Galaxy Note. Not sure how to fix it.

@AdorkableKia First off I'd make sure the iPad and Edge weren't anywhere near each other, otherwise they'll both fight each other for the Bluetooth connection. Ideally make sure the one not being used is off and not just in standby.

I think I may have an answer. I was having a problem with the Blaze and the Samsung S7 not talking at all. I removed it from the app and tried reconnecting. I got stuck in an endless loop of not finding the tracker and getting Bluetooth error restart messages and getting nowhere. No amount of restarting both devices made any difference.

Then I fully powered off (it was sleeping) a nearby Samsung Tab S and everything burst into life. Instant connection and working as it should. So the answer is look for any devices using bluetooth and shut them down. Even notifications that were not working are now working.

I have lots of other bluetooth stuff around (mouse, headphones etc) and only the tablet was causing problems.

@wankell I just checked and see that you have steps, therefore you where able to set the Blaze up?
If you have ever synced through a second device please turn that one off.
Please try a restart of the tracker, and a restart of the phone. If that doesn't work turn the phone completely of then back on.

I echo this experience. I turned BT off on my tablets a week or two ago (I didn't really need to sync to them anyway, so it makes no difference to me) and I think that is what now keeps my S7 and Blaze talking to each other without restarts throughout the day. The BT in my car does not seem to affect it. I'm glad you brought it up.
