Blaze will not sync with galaxy S8

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have been using my Blaze with a Galaxy S6 since christmas without any issue. I recently upgraded my phone to a Galaxy S8 and have had nothing but problems. The biggest issue to me is that it will not connect to use my phones GPS when I go for a run. It will not send notifications to my Blaze either. Is this a compatibility issue? Is there a fix on the way?

Hello @djdcsd, it has only been a few days since the S8 has been on the approved list. Please make sure you Fitbit app is up to date, and that both a phone and tracker restart has been done.

Thanks for the fast reply @Rich_Laue, As far as I can tell the app is up to date. I have uninstalled and downloaded a couple of times as well as restrarted both devices. No luck so far.

Welcome to the Forums @djdcsd and @Rich_Laue thanks for stopping by.

If your tracker is not syncing, I recommend following the instructions provided in the Having trouble syncing? post. After these steps your tracker should sync properly.

Thanks for your response @AlejandraFitbit. While my blaze does seem to sync everytime I open the app, it doesn't do it at any other time. I am still not able to connect to my phone for GPS tracking when I run. Everytime I attempt it the Blaze says check fitbit app. I am also unable to get notifications up and running.

I am having the same problem and I have done all the steps over and over again.  I just upgraded from the Galaxy S7 to the 8+ and it hasn't worked since.  I am so frustrated!

Thanks for the information @djdcsd and welcome to the Forums @Robbie1.

As mentioned, our team just added the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ to the list of compatible mobile devices, I recommend waiting a few days while your trackers adapt to the phone. In the meantime, you can keep trying the steps I provided in my previous post.

Catch you later. Woman Happy

I just got the S8+ yesterday with the impression that the issues with the notifications from the S8 to the Blaze had been resolved but I do not get any notifications from my phone on my Blaze. I have tried all recommended fixes on these threads to no avail.

Upgraded to the S8 yesterday and have the same problems as the above people, blaze syncs, but it won't link up for gps to be used and I'm not getting any notifications now.

Same issue. Blaze syncs just fine but when I try to go for a run or ride it says "Check Fitbit app". So I look at the Fitbit app and it says...nothing. Really useful message! Also no notifications. Been through all the "try this" posts. I'd like to say I'm surprised by this but I'm not. For some reason Fitbit just can't seem to get it together when it comes to their apps. I'm now stuck with a really expensive digital watch since the Blaze no longer performs any of its basic, intended functions. Awesome. To be fair, Samsung is a niche phone maker, the S8 isn't exactly a flagship model and this phone was launched with no prior notice so Fitbit could prepare for it. Oh wait, none of that is true...never mind.

So I just got a Galaxy s8 and the issues the others in this forum (and others) are having have not been resolved. It has now been several months since the s8 has been added to the approved list but it clearly will not sync notifications and the battery drain is HUGE! If I disable the notifications the battery drain is normal again but not having those notifications makes owning the Blaze a huge waste of money! I also find it odd that with a w10m device (Lumia 950) it syncs perfectly, all notifications work great and the Blaze is the perfect companion to that phone. However since the perfect w10m is officially no more I'm surprised that Fitbit hasn't made the Blaze compatible with the 'reigning king' Samsung Galaxy s8. Is there any progress on this fix?

And, no, the suggestions in the web link you provided do not fix the issue. I've tried them all repeatedly.

I too have no success getting the Notifications or GPS to work with the Blaze. I also have a Samsung S8.  I have 45 days to return which I will do if the watch/tracker does not work as advertised.  Please let me know if any fix is on the way.

A couple things to look st.

Does the notifications show up on the phones lock scrern!

When you go to the phones Bluetooth, does the tracker show up as connected?

Blaze shows up on Bluetooth as available but not paired. Blaze classic
shows up on Bluetooth and is paired. GPS does not start up during walking
or running exercise. It seems to have a problem connecting. Notification
will show on lock screen of Samsung S8.

I did not notice the notifications on the lock screen. When I checked the Bluetooth settings it doesn't show as connected.
