Blaze won't charge

Attempted to charge blaze this morning and inserted the pebble into the charging holder.  No charge icon comes up and after several attempts of removing and inserting the device will not charge.  Closer examination of the contacts seems to show they have been pitted somehow (arcing from poor contact?  Picture attached.
