Blaze won't track my steps on the elliptical

At the gym today I got on an eliptical arc trainer. I set my blaze to exercise>eliptical and hit start. It shows I only took 97 steps and went a distance of .03 of a mile in a 20 minute session. This is in no way correct as the arc trainer showed I went a distance of .63 of mile but the it doesn't count steps. I cannot go handsfree on the arc trainer like I can the treadmill. How can I correct this issue and make my steps count and get correct distance? Thank you.

Hi @alwaha. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums!

Whenever you're on an elliptical, it's very important for you to swing your arms and not hold to the bars for your tracker to record your activity more accurately. Fitbit trackers work with 3-axis accelerometers and it relies on your movement to detect steps and therefore distance.

If there could be a way for you to go handsfree while using it, that would help a lot.

Let me know if you need anything else!

Have some problem. Hands free sounds dangerous. I will have to get used to it. Don’t need to risk falling off just to get my steps.
