I recently purchased a Blaze, after downgrading from the Surge.
I can not for the life of me get my Samsung Galaxy S8 plus to connect with the Blaze to
be able to get notifications. After spending almost 45 mins between the chat feature on Fitbits website and on the phone with a tech. They determined that the Blaze's notifications do NOT work with the Galaxy S8. Seems like a cop out, why didn't they tell me that in the first 3 mins of talking with them?
Any solution to this? Anyone else have this issue, and resolved it?
thanks!

Well, that sucks. That's what I get for trying to save $100. I'll just get the Samsung Gear, I guess.

It kind of pisses me off, because it is clearly stated that the s8+ is a supported device, and notifications are one of the offered "features". They better refund me no questions asked.
Edit: Clearly states on their website. Took a screenshot to keep as proof

I have a Gear 2 and it works great. I was just hoping to put those features together with the Fitbit features (i.e.: the Blaze) but nope.

I am the original poster on this thread. My S8+ is now working fine with my Blaze. All though every time i do a restart on my phone for what ever reason, I have to go into the Fibit app and re-setup the notifications to the ones I want. Takes about 1 min is all.

After several weeks of being frustrated, it finally just started working. Like I said, I do have to go to the app and setup the notifications that I want to get. But it works fine now. I get text notifications, incoming calls, emails, Facebook, Instagram,Twitter.

This sounds promising.... can you explain what you did to get it working? Sorry man, just pretty frustrated.
do you run it on classic bluetooth on?
is there any specific troubleshooting that got you to that point? (I've tried every one i've found)
was it just pure luck?
edit: added questions to be more specific

I was told the same thing, an internal issue in software update! But they are working hard to fix it. Ya, ok......

i'm not sure why the blaze bluetooth only connects to the new samsung via blaze (classic), before i upgraded to the S8+, i had it working perfectly on my S7 Edge, it connected to both blaze classic and blaze itself. i think it has to do with the bluetooth middleware and how it interacts with the S8. I'm not sure if FitBit can fix that, or will it have to be an update from samsung. connecting via classic is slow, clunky and downright inconsistent. it would be wonderful if someone could figure out how to make it work properly with all features. i mean the S8 family is on the compatible device list... which means it "should" work 100% without question... but it doesnt. it keeps refusing bluetooth connection to anything except blaze (classic).

Not only that, it's stated online that it works for it, reason why I shelled out the money to buy a Blaze. I've probably spent 5 hours or more today trying to get it to work. I don't think it should be this hard.

I agree with you. My S8plus worked fine with the Fitbit until the latest software upgrade from Fitbit. All I get as a response is that they are aware of the problem of not receiving notifications, and their team is working on it. Well how long can that take????? Come on Fitbit, get this problem fixed already!!!! You got our $200.00 for the Blaze, now make sure it does as your description promises!!!!!

@KornelHi, not battery problems at all with the new Ionic (neither syncing nor bluetooth car audio dropouts as with the Blaze). Even If I workout often it lasts more than three days, if I don't it lasts almost five.

Are you using the Ionic with a Samsung s8? Or s8+? Do you get notifications on your fitbit?

Yes Rich, i've seen your post.couldn't get it to work. Also, the official position of fitbit is that it's a Samsung problem, not theirs. That is discouraging enough to assume it will never work as advertised. I can't spend another 5-6 hours today trying to get it to work. I'll just return it and look into Ionic vs Samsung Gear, since they will be around the same price. A shame too, because I really believe that the Blaze is very neat looking. I loved that you could just switch the square to a new band in seconds.

Hi, @siriusbsnz
Yes, I'm using the Ionic with a Samsung S8+ and I do get notifications on my Fitbit.
With the Blaze nothing worked fine, no notifications, no syncing, nothing. Neither with my Volvo V60 and the Sensus (Car Entertainment System), bluetooth connection with constant audio dropouts.
I unlinked the Blaze and replaced it with the Ionic and magic! Syncing is working like a breeze, notifications started to work (with no extra configurations, no notification widget, no encryption, just default options in the app) and the car bluetooth audio dropouts disappeared!
