Hello @Jillfrog,
Welcome to the community!
The calories burned is just your BMR. Fitbit tracks two types of calorie burn. First are the calories burned from acitvity (walking, running, etc). Second are the calories burned from just being alive (your BMR); this burn rate is based on your stats (age, weight, height, gender, etc). It starts counting from midnight, this is normal.
As for the 111 steps, you've probably moved that much by just charging and setting up your device. You've certainly have had more than 111 steps since you woke up. I would just start the day with those steps and move on. To put it in perspective, assuming you have kept the default 10k step goal, this is just over 1% of that goal.
I hope this helps.

Hey there @Jillfrog. Good to see you in the Community! 🙂
I agree with @PureEvil in that when it comes to the 111 steps, it would be for about 5 minutes of walking around your house so it shouldn't make a huge impact on your numbers.
Also, about the calories you've seen, this is from midnight until the moment you wake up so that shoul also be fine.
