Bug: Please put a notification on the device to indicate that it is not syncing

TL;DR: Please put an appropriate notification on the watch face when syncing hasn't happened for longer than expected. Competitors have prominent notifications for this situation. I'm not constantly logging into the Fitbit web site. I'm not constantly taking note of the app on my phone either. My Fitbit devices are here to service me. Not the other way around.

I get an email once a week: "Your weekly progress report from Fitbit!" This is great! It tells me about my activity/etc. But, whatever the reason may be, if it is not syncing, it seems I don't get that email. This means there is NO warning whatsoever regarding the fact that the data is not being synchronized.

Because the app on my phone somehow got logged out about 2 weeks ago, I've now probably lost a big chunk of logging data. I'm currently waiting for it to finish the "catch-up" sync.

I'm not following, you want notification on the tracker when it has notvsynced after a set period of time. The subject is, "Bug: please put notification on device when the tracker hasn't synced" .This subject line expresses what is being asked a lot clearer than "Bug: No warning anywhere when tracker hasn't synced."

I find a few things wrong here .

Your post is about a future enhancement to receive a message on the tracker. You not simply saying that you received nothing to tell you that the tracker had not synced.

A subject about no warning. expresses your experience, it does not express the feature that you would like to see implemented.

The term anywhere is a little misleading since if a user looks at their step count. On the app or web, the sync issue would be obvious.

By definition, a bug is when a system is not functioning as expected, since the programmers never wrote any code to implement this feature. This is not a "bug" but a request for a feature enhqncement.

Having a subject that is negative, is not conducive to receiving positive constructive comments, rather I would expect a flood of "me too's"

As mentioned above we have a special board for feature requests. The community board. where your post is located, is where the community of Fitbit users help each other out with unexpected problems.

@zaTricky, your Blaze has a thirty day memory.

Thanks, Rich. That is pretty cool that the memory is so much more than the previous devices. At a minimum, it means I didn't lose any data. 🙂

This is still a pretty serious issue since this is still a foreseeable opportunity for data to be lost with ample opportunity for a super-simple notification that might prevent it.

It's great to see you around @zaTricky, thanks for troubleshooting this by yourself and @Rich_Laue for stopping by.

If your tracker isn't syncing, I recommend taking a look at the Having trouble syncing? post and follow the instructions provided there. After these steps your tracker should sync. Also, could you please check if your phone is a compatible mobile device.

Hope to hear from you soon. Woman Happy

Ever since the iOs 11 update, the app doesn't recognize that my Bluetooth is actually on, therefore it won't sync with the Blaze. I have Deleted the app, re-installed, verified the latest version in on the phone, Forgotten the Blaze via the app, re-connected it via Bluetooth settings on the phone, and yet it still won't sync & transfer the data from the Blaze to my phone. I have tried to pull down on the app to initiate syncing, I have tried "Sync Now" under the app settings. Anything I'm forgetting???

Hi, @AlejandraFitbit This isn't about the fact that it wasn't syncing. This is about the fact that I as the user was *unaware* that it wasn't syncing.

It took me about 2 minutes to fix the problem - but it took about 2 weeks for me to notice the problem existed.

Hi, @AlejandraFitbit.

Do you mind changing the subject back? The new subject "edited for clarity" is very much NOT what this is about.

Never mind. I've edited the topic back.

It happened again this week - took 9 days for me to notice that it wasn't syncing. I only noticed because the battery had run flat and the time didn't correct itself after charging. Come on, Fitbit. A simple notification can't be that hard. 😐

If I'm in a challangecI get notifications to sync the tracker.

I was able to locate a request to vote on in the Feature Suggestion board .

Email reminder when sync is overdue

This is quite different. It'd be far less intrusive and far easier for Fitbit's devs to implement having a notification on the device itself. The link you refer to involves email. We get enough email, thanks.

Maybe if Fitbit's reps didn't make me super upset by changing the subject line to something completely off-topic, that might have happened earlier. 🙂

Thank you for pointing out how flawed I am as a human being. You are right though. This could be far clearer.

I never started that your flawed, I simply said that I do not understand why the current subject does not seem relevant to the request you're asking.

Have you posted a request for this feature? If so please post a link here so that we know where to add our votes.

I apologise for being short with you. Though this has been a frustrating experience, it is not your fault.

I've put up a new feature request here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Feature-Request-Put-a-notification-on-the-device...

Thank you

Hi there @zaTricky. Thanks for taking the time to create the feature suggestion and I really hope many other users vote for it as having a notification to be aware of when your tracker is not syncing would be really helpful!
