Calorie Count

I have not worn my tracker today and it somehow still counted calories. Why? Help...

The unit/software estimates your calorie usage just to stay alive - maintain body temp, heart beat, organs functioning, etc... This is known as the Base Metabolic Rate or BMR. When you exercise (walk, run, lift weights, etc,) you burn more calories and the unit uses your heart rate and motion to estimate the exercise calories. At this time Fitbit does not have a way to strip out the BMR and most folks want to know total calorie expenditure in relation to total intake for weight control.
