Can't set up my new Blaze.

I'm using a Note 3, and it insists on updating the firmware over bluetooth, and then it just sits at that updating screen forever.  I've even tried leaving it on all night.

So I tried downloading the Windows app and setting up the device that way, but it demands a dongle which didn't come with the package.  Was I supposed to receive one?  I don't understand why the computer can't access it over USB.

This is my first Fitbit product, and I thought it would be a lot of fun, but so far it's given me nothing but frustration. 😞

Hi, @gibbousmoon, the Blaze is not supplied with a dongle because most users are able to sync via their smartphone or using the Windows 10 app on a computer.  Howeveer, as @WendyB mentions, Customer Support can send you one if you need it.

If you have a computer running Windows 10 and you have downloaded the Windows 10 app, you can sync your Blaze without requiring a dongle if you put your Blaze in the charging cable and and plug the cable into the computer USB port.  The Blaze is the only Fitbit that is able to sync in this way.

I hope this helps!

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I am on Windows 7.  Is it not compatible with 7?

I'm also confused that I can't use it with my phone, since the Note 3 is supposed to be supported.

@gibbousmoon, it is compatible with Windows 7, but in that case you will need the dongle to sync.

It also should be -- and probably is -- compatible with your phone, but sometimes if you are having difficulty getting set up the simplest way is to set up using a different device, if possible.

So you could try setting it up on a friend's computer, or compatible tablet or Smartphone and then connecting to your Note 3 once it is set up, or

you could get in touch with Customer Support (as Wendy recommended above).  They can send you a dongle and may be able to talk you through the steps to set up on your phone.  Be sure to let them know you have already worked through the troubleshooting steps in this help article

Hi, I am also having a lot of trouble with my blaze. I do have windows 10. I have tried everything and have just sent an email to fitbit help. Hopefully I can get some answers. I have done over 11k steps today and it is hard seeing all my hard work go to waste essentially.
