Cannot set up a Blaze

I received a hand-me-down Fitbit Blaze as a Christmas Present and it will not complete the set up process on any of my devices. On each device it gets to the step where it prompts you to enter a 4 digit code from the blaze, which I do and then it sits there 'connecting' until it fails and kicks me back out to the Account/Set Up Device screen.

1. I have tried ALL of the Troubleshooting Syncing steps on THREE separate and compatible devices, each multiple times.

  • On iOS I receive the error: com.fitbit.HTTP error 500
  • On Android I don't receive any error, it just kicks me back to the Account/Set Up Device screen.
  • On Windows 10 I receive a Trouble connecting to Fitbit.com message

2. I have tried this on my home and work wifi networks and my mobile data network. Same issues on both.

At this point what else is there to do? I have tried every troubleshooting list and read all the relevant forum posts I could find.

I think you should have him check on his phone if he removed the device from his Bluetooth. It takes 7 days for an account to be deleted in case a person changes their mind. So  it could be a waiting period as I dont know when he deleted it. Once its is gone the device will not be attached to his account

Also do a restart on the device

Do it at least 3 times.

Restart

Welcome to the forums!

Did the person you got it from remove it from their Bluetooth device?

Are there any other devices around with Bluetooth on? This could stop it from setting up. They interfere

Thank you Wendy, I saw on a similar post that other Bluetooth devices could interfere, so I have tried it while distanced from other all electronics and it was still unsuccessful, so I don't think it was that.

My father said he deleted his entire Fitbit account before giving the Blaze to me, but I am unsure if he removed the device from his account before doing so. He is not the most technically proficient, I will check with him and reply back.

Thank you!

If anyone has this trouble as well, Wendy's post was the solution. Once 7 days had elapsed from when he deleted his account I was able to sync and setup the fitbit.

Lesson learned, if someone gifts you their fitbit make sure they remove it before they delete their account!

Thanks,

-Nate
