Charging my Blaze overseas

ANSWERED

I am traveling overseas next month and I am a bit concerned about keeping my Blaze charged.  I won't be taking my computer so can't charge via a usb port.  When I tried to use wall charger to charge the Blaze when I first recieved it the display kept running through the different options.  I haven't tried using a wall charger since.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Hello @cagirlinaz welcome to the Fitbit Community! There shoudn't be any issue with charging your Blaze using a wall adapter (A/C to USB adapter) or a  a DC to USB adapter (vehicle power port) Just make sure it's UL certified so your battery won't get damaged. You can also read this article for more information about traveling with Fitbit.  @Rich_Laue and @fudge22 it's great to have you here! 🙂

Happy stepping and have a safe trip! 🙂

Try to get a wall charger to work correctly. Here are a few tips:

If the wall charger you currently have doesn't work very well or is old, consider buying a new wall charger, like those used for iphones. That works well for me.

If the blaze does weird things when being plugged in to the wall charger, shut down the blaze before placing in the charger.

Hope you can get that to work.

A wall charged from the US might need an adaptor while oversees. You might consider percussing or borrowing a phone charger after getting there. Some models are putting usb chargers in lamps or sockets.

Hi.  I tried a different wall charger and had no issues.  I can travel to Ireland with no worries!!

Never been to Ireland, but have been to France and Italy. Their wall socket configurations are different than ours, so I bought a wall socket adapter kit with modules to convert the various European wall socket configurations to U.S.

My mom found that most of the motels she stayed at had an American outlet in the bathroom. After the tour she stayed with relatives, and used their phone charger.

Also many TV's have a place to plug in a USB memory stick, this also can be used to charge a phone or Fitbit.

Hi AZPete!  I also have an adapter I used last year when I was there.  I even believe it has a usb port.  I'm too obsessed with my Blaze to not have it with me for the two weeks we are there.  I need to have a backup for my backup!!

Hi Rich -

The b&b's we stayed in last time we were there didn't have american outlets in their bathrooms.  I do have a converter that should work but concerned that the wall plug I tried at home in the U.S. caused it to flip out a bit.  Luckily when I tried another wall plug it charged just fine.  I'm overly obsessed with my Blaze and need to have a backup plan for my backup plan when it comes to charging it when I'm in Ireland.  Thanks for your input.

It does sound like you have it covered @cagirlinaz.

I really would not expect a B&B to have this kind of setup.

But since B&B's are mire personal, and any 5v usb source would work. Your hosts phone charger, or maybe asking if you could plug into their cumputer. Don't forget that almost every flat screen tv has a usb socket these days. Just some thoughts on alternative ways to charge.

If you meet any Cheneys, say hi for me. Yes I'm also, in 5 steps, related to that American VP named Dick Cheney.
