Connected to Windows 10 PC but app still "looking for tracker"

I've had this problem fairly regularly with my Blaze and I can't seem to identify the cause.

I sync my Blaze to my Windows 10 PC because my 6 year old smartphone no longer supports the new Android OS, and many apps, including the Fitbit app, require the latest Android OS installed. Unfortunately as a broke college student, I won't be getting a new phone any time soon.

So here's what I'm dealing with:

  • Bluetooth is on
  • The Blaze is found and "connected" in Windows 10 Bluetooth settings
  • The Blaze is plugged in to the USB dongle and less than 1" away from my bluetooth antenna
  • The FitBit Windows 10 app cannot sync with my Blaze, it says "looking for tracker" endlessly

And without my interference or anything, sometimes it will just work and sync, but very very rarely. I sit down at my PC for 3+ hours every day and I'm lucky if it syncs three times in a week.

Again, seeing as it is connected to my computer, this sounds like a problem with the FitBit windows 10 app? I really just want to see how I'm doing and it's very difficult when my progress is only visible once every 4-5 days.

I haven't been able to sync with the Windows 10 app in a while. I did download and install the old Fitbit Connect software and had some limited success syncing with that.
