I just got a Fitbit Blaze myself. I play drums. So I can rack up about 3000 steps in a half hour of playing drums (hand movement). It'd be nice to be able to pause the step counter for that period so I can still use the heart rate monitor. I get that I can designate that as a workout and delete those steps, but a pause button and a resume would be a much better user experience.

Hi @Coterion. Great to see you participating in the forms. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and share this idea!
I also agree with you... there are certain activities that will give you false steps because of the nature of the movements you make while doing them and it would be cool to have those steps not to count. Right now, I was able to find this suggestion which is for putting your tracker in driving mode to avoid erroneous step count that could work for the purpose you mention but besides that, I didn't find any other to just disable step counting for a period of time.
If you'd like, you can create your own suggestion in the Feature Suggestions board so that others with the same need can vote for it and hopefully we can see something like this in a near future. I'd definitely vote for it.
Hope this helps and anything else you may need, let me know! 🙂
