Dominant vs non-dominant wrist for best track?

Hi, what configuration should i choose if i would like to have less sensitive movement to be recorded?

Im right handed and that would be my dominant hand, however im using my clock on my left wrist.

Should i "fool" the tracker by setting my device to dominant wrist even if its on my left hand so that the tracker wont get fooled so easily if i only move my hands back and forth?

i would hate to be able to get 1000+ more steps just because of arm movement

I get better results by having them opposite as I wear it

Give it a try and see if it works for you

Hmm what do you mean?

Should i wear it on my left wrist as usual and set the fitbit to dominant? is that your suggestion?

I had the same question @S.O.H. Everything I have read says that if your settings reflect that you are wearing it on your dominant hand- it counts fewer steps. If your settings reflect that you are wearing it on your non-dominant hand- it counts more steps.

The setting options related to hand dominance and: 1) Wrist orientation (Which wrist are you wearing it on?) and 2) Handedness (What handed are you?)

Since you want it to track fewer steps you want your settings to reflect that you are wearing it on your dominant hand. If you are right handed and wearing it on your left hand then either: 1) change your setting to show that you are left-handed (even though you are right-handed) OR 2) change your setting to show that you are wearing it on your right hand (even though you are not). Either of these settings will make it think that you are wearing it on your dominant hand.

I just changed my setting to do the same thing so that it tracks fewer steps.

I wear mine on my right and I'm right handed. I sent it to dominant and it records more steps than I take. I was writing and it said my steps were going up but I hasnt moved

I wear on my left but I am right handed so I select non-dominate.... however, I am a bit ambidextrous so when I shoot pool, guns, or bow I do it left handed. When I swing a bat, golf club, cast and reel a fishing pole, or throw a ball I do it right handed. Riddle me that fitbit!! lol

Just thought I'd share that. I never set it up any other way so not sure what the differences would be but you guys answered my question in the thread so thanks! 🙂

I am right handed, but wear fitbit on right hand and watch on left hand. What setting I need to do for accuracy?

Keep in mind its a fitness tracker. Steps aren't really the issue, but movement, heart rate and calories burned. Steps are just an easy way to keep a general eye on things.

I'm a housekeeper and I burn way more energy scrubbing and vacuuming than I do walking. My solution is to wear it on my right dominant hand while working and switch it to left when not, switching the settings to coincide. That way my arm movements are counted while working but not when home and just puttering around.

I put mine on my right wrist for a day to see if it made any difference; I don’t know that I ever set up which hand....if I’m going to be taking or doing gardening where I’m **ahem** well working hard, I’m just not taking actual steps, sometimes it makes sense to put on dominant hand. Normally, I keep it on my left. It’s on my left today and I’ve gone for an aerobic walk, done a hell of a lot of raking up grass and clipping weeds and I’m already at 9,641 steps. So I don’t think it makes a huge difference. I’m actually trying to gain a little weight (don’t hate me; I’ve struggled w anorexia; I’d GLADLY take some of the weight out there and put it in my boobs and face lol). Another thing that I found nuts is that it was trying to get me- at 5’1” tall and a hundred pounds trying to gain 20 and it had my “calories burned” goal at 1,900 a day which is insane. It wasn’t counting sleep cals etc; yesterday I walked seven miles and just barely reached that goal at like 9pm. I took it down to 1000 cals a day and I’m going to start putting food in; I need reminders to eat as well as to move!

@naomiselina"Keep in mind its a fitness tracker. Steps aren't really the issue, but movement, heart rate and calories burned. I set up mine to 11000.
