Driving logged as exercise

Hi,

(I have searched for this issue, but not found the same thing).

When I log driving the fitbit app marks it as an exercise setting. Is there a way to remove it from your exercise log WITHOUT it adding the steps back on?

I just tried to delete the exercise entry, but it added the steps back on. Sigh. This seems like a pretty basic thing for a fitness tracker. I do quite a few short drives each day for work, so it adds lots of exercises sessions!

(I use DriveBit to track driving as my tracker logs quite a lot of steps when I am driving, and I also use it when I am doing something like playing the piano etc).

Unfortunately driving is considered an exercise, as much as your run or yoga is an exercise. As you found out removing driving also removes the modification of the data.
My question is how many steps do you receive while driving? With modern suspension on today's autos, most people ate not receiving many steps while driving and have chosen not to worry about it. Did you notice that Driving does add calories burnt? This is because driving requires concentration, and controlling of the vehicle, and the caloric burn goes up.

Thanks for your reply!

The amount of steps I get while driving varies, but often it will be ~ 100
steps in 10 mins driving. Somedays I can rack up 2hrs of driving so it ends
up being quite a few extra steps. I find I get steps when I am having to
change gear or drive slowly. This is quite often the case due to where I am
driving (country lanes, roads with lots of roundabouts).

I also earn about 1000 steps from 45 mins playing piano. Now I often charge
it while I am playing but sometimes it is interesting to see heart rate
etc.

My heart rate definitely goes up when I am driving so I am not surprised by
burning calories haha. But still, to me driving is not an exercise!

Cheers 🙂

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @BKen84! The activity log is the only part of the Dashboard where we can log activities, to negate the steps tracked while driving it's the only place to add that information, you can visit our Feature Request board to share your idea about adding a different section on the Dashboard to log driving. @Rich_Laue thanks for your cooperation! 🙂

Happy stepping! 🙂
