FYI: Blaze, Fitbit App for Mac running MOS 10.11.5 Bluetooth issues

MacOS 10.1.5 update was released today. The current Fitbit Mac app (20151109_2.0.1.6761) no longer recognizes that Bluetooth is on with this update installed, at least on my machine (MacPro 5.1 mid 2011)

Hi there @SunsetRunner. Good to see you in the Community! 🙂

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. I would just like to make sure that you're not syncing via bluetooth on your Mac. For syncing through a Mac, you will need to plug the charging cradle and once it's connected and you put your Blaze in the cradle. Make sure you're syncing that way or that you're syncing via bluetooth via a compatible mobile device.

Anything else you may need, let me know and I'll be glad to help!

This sort of works. It does sync when within a foot of the dongle. However in order to get to work. I have to power down all my other mobile devices (iPad and Android Smartphone) first, even if they are in another room or restart the Blaze while syncing. As it turns out I also have to do this while in Windows. I feel that it should function smoother than this and I should not have to be resetting the Blaze every time I change from a mobile device to my desktop. However this is a much better option than I had before. Needless to say I still am irritated having to spend a total of over 32 hours trying to straighten/fix out my computer when it was a combination of Fitbit’s software and inadequately trained technical support causing the issue.

@SunsetRunner what you are experiencing is a limitation of the Bluetooth protocol and not Fitbit.

You actually will not need to power down all the other devices if you can figure out which device the Blaze is connected to. Simply turning its bluetooth off or moving it far enough away will be enough.

Bluetooth Low Energy is designed to have a stronger bond then previous Bluetooth did. This bond will only let a BT receiver, such as your Blaze conect only to one server, ph9ne, tablet, computer, etc, at a time.

As for a syncing a Fitbit tracker, it doesnt matter how you do it, every sync will sen your data to the same Fitbit Server. Then every device will look at this same server to display your data.
