FitBit Blaze heart rate monitor stuck and over-counting steps

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello,

I have had two issues over the last few weeks.

1. The HR is stuck on 70 despite any activity and whether worn or off.

2 The steps are being overesitimated to the extent I have taken the phone off when showing only to come back and find I have completed 10k steps!

I had followed advice on here, power off and on, hard resets etc but still the problems remain.  The second problem is intermittent whereas the HR issue is constant.

Any advice?

Thanks

Hi there @PerryH62, great to have you in  the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂

I'm very sorry to hear that you're having problems with your Blaze being stuck on the heart rate and for the steps being over-counted. Thanks a lot for what you've already tried and there's one more thing that I could suggest. You could try setting up your tracker as a new device and see if this makes any difference. (This process will not delete any of your previous data unless you've not synced your tracker lately but in that case, only the un-synced information will not be saved).

For this, go to the Account section at the top right corner on the Fitbit app and select the option that says "Set up a new device". Follow the on-screen instructions and once you're done, your tracker should be syncing without a problem and hopefully setting up as a new device will make your heart rate monitor to get back to normal and the steps to be counted correctly. Also, you might want to make sure that your stride length has been set correctly. This setting is more for calculating distance but if the distance of your stride length is entered as very short, steps could be over-calculated.

To measure your walking stride length:

  1. Go to a track or some place where you're sure of the distance.
  2. Count your steps as you walk across that distance, making sure you travel at least 20 steps.
  3. Divide the total distance (in feet) taken by the number of steps to get your stride length.

Your running stride can be calculated the same way if you run instead of walk.

To change your stride length:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon
  2. Tap or click Advanced Settings.
  3. Tap or click Stride Length.
  4. Adjust your stride length.

Hope this helps and if you need anything else, let me know. I'll be happy to help you out!
