Fitbit Blaze - Battery Full, Dead when not Connected to Charger

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello,

This is actually my 2nd Blaze, lost the first one at the pool (I had no such problems with the first one).

This blaze was Delivered Aug 1, 2016 from Amazon.

Firmware Version 17.8.200.3

I have been charging periodically (I never try to let it get to Low Battery).

I have not been excercising or banging it or dropping it in the last few days.

Last night:

It went blank screen on me... so I thought the battery was dead, but when I put it on the charger, the battery is steady green with no signs of charging...

When I disconnected it from the charger it would go blank screen again, and when I put it onto the charger, it would show the logo as if it's doing a reset.

When I looked at it on the Phone, the battery said it was Empty.

This Morning:

I looked at it (while connected to charger), and it showed the big full green battery charging picture, so I assume the battery was finally charged.

The Phone said the battery was Full.

However, the same thing happens... when I disconnected it, it went blank screen on me... when I put it back onto the charger, the logo would appear as if it's doing a reset.

While on the charger, all available functions seemed to work... I was even able to control my phone's music form the fitbit while on charger... I was even able to do a hard reset while the charger...

But as soon as I took it off, blank screen.

I've never been on the forums before, but it seems like you guys have a QC issue with your battery for the latest batch or something...

Please advise.

Thanks,

Wei

Hi GL, your Blaze's lithium may think full is empty since you cycle (charge) from full.

A hard reset could erase the charging monitor's confusion but you won't be able to get to the two buttons while in the charging cradle now.

(Hard reset requires access to the buttons so you can Press and hold the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen - 10 seconds or so)

Only idea I have beyond contacting the good folks on chat at: Support, is while in cradle, swipe to settings screen, tap, scroll up to shutdown and tap. Remove from the cradle and hold the left button to see if your blaze will power back on, if it won't be sure to tell the support folks this, if it does, yay!

I put the blaze in charger without closing it, using my hand to keep it in contact with leads in the back while pressing and holding those buttons... the logo did appear and was rebooted.

@Hensim1230, peek at this thread and pull that old Blaze from the drawer -

just like your mobile phone, the longer between cycles (charges) the longer the battery life.  You can actually retrain an undamaged lithium. If you exhaust the number of available cycles though, you exhaust them.  Best lithium cell practice: charge only when your device asks for it and never more than two hours.  I apologize for missing your thread when you first encountered an issue. Glad you are back on the road though!  Nice to meet you.
