Fitbit Blaze and Charge HR not merging Heart Rate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just bought a blaze to replace my Charge HR as my main everyday device (and so far loving it) BUT my biggest gripe is that the much promised 'merge' feature isn't working.

To elaborate, I wear my Blaze 24/7 except when I play squash, and at that point I change over to my Charge HR (smaller target). While the Charge HR will happily record my exercise, it will no longer record my heart rate during that period (basically during the time I most want it to). I confirmed while playing that it was registering on my device itself, yet when I synced with my iPhone 6s Plus it did not log the heart rate at all. I log each game to try and regulate my heart rate to cardio, and the device did read my heart rate during games and even showed the average post game, yet it does not show on my excercises.

Any fix for this. Am I doing something wrong?

A couple off thoughts I have @FlyBoyJIt

Try a sync at the time of switching. Fitbit recommends this, I find it unnecessary.

Check the times in question on the web.. If things look good here then log out on the phone app, and back in.

This weekend I have switched between the Charge HR, blaze and Surge, with only one break in heart rate.. I fell asleep without a tracker on.

You might also try restarting the HR in case there is a "bug" in it.  Go to "Help" at the bottom of the page and then click onto the HR icon. One of the options will be instructions on how to restart the HR.

You can also go to help and type restart, a link to this doc will show up.

Thank you @John917 it did not occur to me that the Charge HE might be the cause.

Thanks for the response. This is the exact procedure I use so maybe it's in here.
I keep my charge HR turned off when not needed. I sync my blaze and turn it off. I turn on my charge HR and sync it to update the time and use it during my exercise. Then I sync it and turn it off again and sync my blaze. The steps sync perfectly but heart rate is not logged even when I sync my charge HR and I know it's being logged because I check during my games that it's logging properly. Maybe it's the frequent on/off cycle causing the HR not to report the heart raye back to the app/Web?

The fitbit dashboard says that no heart rate was logged during any exercise.

@FlyBoyJIt you have left me a little confused, to turn the Charge HR off is a multi step process and removes the unit from your account, requiring it to be setup as an additional device.

I don't worry about turning anything off, the screen and Heart rate or set to auto, when the tracker is off the arm the Heart Rate turns off automatically.

In any case have you done the restart of the Charge HR yet?. Many say to do it there times, it sometimes doesn't work at first.

You haven't mentioned if you ever see a heart rate while looking at the Charge HR?

Sorry, I was on my phone so was not providing complete info. My 'steps' 😛 in detail.

Before Starting any excercise.

  1. Sync my blaze to my iphone.
  2. Turn off Blaze (because it is a simple process)
  3. Turn on Fitbit Charge HR.
  4. Sync Charge HR to same iphone to correct the time. At this point it is still connected to my account as a device. I turn it off every time by following the shutdown procedure (connect to charger, hold button 2s, disconnect charger, continue holding 7-9s, release and press button, cycle to off.)  Will not be doing this in future as per your suggestion.

During Exercise

Play squash logging each game. I can confirm that I check the HR between games to ensure heart rate is being logged, and the the overview at the end is logging the average as well.

Post Game

  1. Sync Charge HR to iphone noting lack of heart rate data even though it was being logged during exercise.
  2. Turn off Charge HR (again will NOT be doing this further) following the standard procedure. (connect to charger, hold button 2s, disconnect charger, continue holding 7-9s, release and press button, cycle to off.)
  3. Sync Fitbit Blaze

@FlyBoyJIt you say your heart on the Charge HR doesnt work? Have you cheked the device settings of the unit to make sure that the Heartrate is turned on?

Also has a restart been tried?

It does work on the HR and it does show on screen while exercising. I have restarted multiple times with no change.

I would click the settings gear in the top right of this page, or go to help through the app. In both places you will find a link to contact Fitbit. Let them know what is happening.

They can see behind the scene.

You might also want to try wearing the Charge HR all day.
