The charging contacts are damaged, now it won't accept a charge.

My Blaze is almost three years old and today I experienced this issue. Has anyone created a solution to this issue? If a person is handy they should be able to fabricate a fix.

Is there anything fitbit can do to remedy my situation?

Hi, I came across the same problem with my blaze, it’s no longer under warranty. The back contacts have holes also and is no longer charging.

how do I change with replacement

Best Answer

I have the same issue. It was bought in 2017 and I was simply told to purchase a new one... Seriously? Why throw away an otherwise perfectly fine device for a problem so little?

Best Answer

like the others have noted my blaze back's connectors are dramaticly worn

would like to replace the back if I knew where to get one I don't know if I can get

it to charge anymore

I couldn’t find any help, so ended up replacing the whole thing.
Did realize I was pressing down too hard when placing on charger.
Sorry, wish I could help.
Now I just simply lay it down on charger without putting any pressure at all.
Good luck.

When my Blaze was damaged I sent a picture of the damaged area to the
fitbit email address with an explanation of the fault and as long as you
are able to provide proof of purchase and the unit is still under warranty
they may replace the unit (as they did for me )

Thank you for the update @Cecymorales, I' sorry to you you had the same problem, but it's good to know that you were able to replace the device as well.

Thank you for this information @Rayvier, it's possible the device was out of warranty. You can check the complete policy here, remember it will start counting from the date of purchase.

@neubak, I've sent your information to Customer Support, but it seems that you already have a case created with them for further assistance with this. I hope everything goes well.

Hi, I'm in Canada and have the same issue.  My Fitbit Blaze will no longer charge, and there appear to be holes in the charging contacts.  Looking at the back the leftmost contact is 'cratered' and the others have damage as well.

I don't think I've had this particular device for more than 2 1/2 to 3 years.

Please help...I'm not sure I can deal with buying another Blaze (or Versa) at this time.  Especially when I consider that this unit is still working quite well, except that I can no longer charge it.

I have the same issue one of the contact points on the back of the watch has almost gone. Device charges when it feels like it. Have had it for 4 years. Looks like I will be buying a new Fitbit!!

Yes. Sounds about right. Mine are lasting 2-3 yrs. try getting extended warranty since we are almost guaranteed to have the same issue again with the charging contacts. I believe they are made cheap so that we buy new ones:(

I have the same problem.  A $179 device that has some "cratering" on the contacts.  I have only used it in the Fitbit-provided charging device, which "fastens" the Blaze into the cradle.  Only about 2.5 years of use; first problem with battery charging occurred at about 12 months of use.  Disappointing performance for a device this expensive.

Turned it off for a few days, then tried charging again and it has worked for another year and a half with some intermittent charging problems (or reporting inaccurate charge levels), but now has zero response to charging attempts?

Does Fitbit have any suggestions to remedy this besides purchasing a new Fitbit?

Thanks,

I don’t think so. I actually email customer service and they were good about responding but I believe it’s before a year that they can send you replacements.
Not sure it’s been a while. Email them directly. Good luck.

I have the same problem. I paid almost two hundred for this watch and had it about two years before it stopped charging. I can’t afford to buy another fit bit so I bought one off of overstock for 35.00 and it does the same thing and more. I Am very disappointed in Fitbit not addressing this problem and taking care of their multitude of  customers with the same issue.  A watch at that price point should not be a throwaway item. I even bought a new charger thinking maybe that was the problem but it wasn’t . Shame on Fitbit. I no longer will recommend their products because of this issue.

Dora1856,

Amen. I bought an Amazfit and it goes for 3-4 days or more on a single
charge and less than half the price of my Fitbit Blaze (which developed
charging problems after 12 months of use).
