Fitbit Blaze showing Heart Rate when I'm not wearing it

I got my Blaze last week but I've noticed when I take it off ( for showering etc) it's still displaying my heart rate!   Where is it getting this info from?  Is it faulty or supposed to do that?

Thanks

If the heart rate sensors are switched 'On' (or they're in 'Auto' and a suitable trigger movement happens) then it all depends where you put your Blaze. If it's close enough to other objects (and it probably also needs to be dark enough too) then it's possible for the HR LEDs to reflect back to the sensors and spoof them into thinking they're locked onto a heart rate.

I generally put my tracker face down in the window (on 'Auto') so it's normally in pretty bright light and I haven't seen this sort of problem occur.

When taking there Blaze of after 10-20 seconds the HR lights should turn off. I notice the heart rate reading does too. But as @MikeF says any variation in the light level does turn the HR backnon.
I to notice it then displays the last HR reading, Why? Don't know.
