Fitbit Blaze step count innacurate

Hi everyone, I've just purchased a Fitbit Blaze about a month ago, has been working great up until today, my watch is stating I've done a lot less steps than what it says when I sync it with the app on my mobile. I've switched it off and back on again and sync'd it but still the same issue, watch says 2455 steps and app says 7703.

Hi @Sarah1982. Great to see you in the Fitbit Community! 😄

I'm sorry your steps don't seem to be counted accurately 😕

I just have one question though... Are you by any chance entering any activity manually? This is a good tool for instances when you forgot to wear your tracker and want to keep track of activities for any specific timeframe but it's not very good when you were actually wearing your tracker as it can cause discrepancies with the information recorded by your tracker. If this is the case, go to the Track Exercise section and tap on the exercise and you'll have the option to delete it at the top right corner.

If this was not the case, I'd say restarting your tracker by pressing the left and lower right buttons for 10-12 seconds. This will make your tracker to reboot. After that, sync your tracker and see if your steps match this time on your tracker and on the app.

Nah not entering my steps manually, just doesn't show the correct amount of steps on the watch but when I sync it shows proper amount of steps, eg watch today showed 2157 steps, phone app once synced shows 6773.

Huh, that's strange. It would make more sense that the steps would appear on your tracker but not on your dashboard until you sync it @Sarah1982.

I would still recommend restarting your tracker as I explained before or you can also try to set up your tracker as a new device. For this, go to the Account section at the bottom right corner on the Fitbit app and select the option that says "Set up a new device". Follow the on-screen instructions and once you're done, your tracker should be syncing without a problem.

I came to forum to see if anyone else was having inaccurate step counts. After reading the suggestion to reboot, can you tell me before I do that if it will change what I have done so far today? I really do not want to lose my daily goals.

Hi there @AMFox63. Welcome to the Forums! 🙂

Now, about your question, restarting your tracker by pressing the left and lower right buttons for 10-12 seconds will only reboot your tracker but will not delete any information. Now, setting up your tracker as a new device, will delete any information on your tracker. For that reason it's important for you to sync your tracker before setting it up as a new device.

hope this helps!
