Fitbit blaze over heating and wont charge

My fitbit blaze started overheating and stopped charging in june.. at that point the watch was only 10 months old. That was the last time that it was synchronized. I tried the reset and it didn't work. I was so annoyed with it, that I just put it away in my drawer.  A buddy of mine told me that they are under warranty. Is this true? Would they still grant the warranty being I waited so long? My app shows the last time that it was on..
