Heart Rate Monitor Quit Working

With the new update, May 9th, caused my heart rate monitor to stop working. As a elder individual that works out I need to have a heart rate monitor with me. This was one of my major reasons for my new Fitbit watch was so I could have both my watch and heart monitor in one. Hope you can fix this for me.

Have you tried resetting the fitbit. I have noticed that with this last update some things don't work exactly as they used to. Resetting the watch can fix some of those things.

I'm having the same problem. I bought te Blaze yesterday an the heart rate function won't work. I had to update the firmware to the 17.8.200.3 in order for it to work, and the monitor just stays blank. I've tried all the tricks they gave me on the FAQ online (using the Blaze higher on the wrist, making sure that the wristband is not tight, switching the heart rate monitor to On instead o Auto, resetting the Blaze) and the heart rate still doesn't work. One of the reasons I bought it is the heart monitor... I feel a bit disappointed now 😞

There are a couple of ways to restart the Blaze, a hard reset, andthe Shutdown command in the settings menu. Please try both.

When saying the Heart Rate doesn't work, are the lights flashing,  or is the HR just not displaying?

Originally the lights on the bottom were working and the HR display
stopped on 5/9. Now the lights are not working. Hard reset done multiple
times

Have you called customer support? Have them trouble shoot it. If they can't get it fixed it may be a defective tracker and they will send you another. Good luck.

Have contacted customer support twice to return this defective device,
Will not let me return this less than 1 week old device until
engineering team contacts me. No response yet after 2 days. Not happy

Hmm. If they can't trouble shoot it I don't see why they would need you to contact engineering. I'd call again and insist on your device being faulty and see where that gets you.

Does the green LED light come on at all to try and see your heart rate? Have you checked in your dashboard to make sure the heart rate wasn't being recorded and you just aren't seeing it on the watchface for some reason?

A couple of things to try..
The two button reset
Turning the Blaze off through its setting menu, this will restart any locked up non functioning hardware, while the hard reset might not.
Manually switch the HR to off, then on, then auto. If it works in on, leave it that way for a day or two.

My Blaze had this problem that started either yesterday or this morning. It was showing "--" for heartrate and the green lights were not flashing. I fixed by doing a reset following instructions at: http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1186
